With the ability to modify the sump to your needs with adjustable water levels, interchangeable plates , tube holders, probe holders, and enough room to put equipment where ever you need it.

The Sapphire series introduces several new features not found anywhere else. Some of the features of the Sapphire sumps are:
- Interchangeable plates (PAT PENDING)
- Lid to prevent splashing
- Adjustable water height
- Self-adjusting foam block platform (PAT PENDING)
- Dual platforms
- Protein skimmer section
- Refugium section
- Sapphire blue coloring to block light and prevent unwanted algae growth in other sections
Sapphire Water Flow
Water enters the Sapphire sumps into a dedicated section where the water will then flow over into Section 1.
Section 1 where the interchangeable plate is located allowing for either filter sock or foam block mechanical filtration. This area is covered with a lid to prevent water splashing. Water then flows out the bottom of Section 1 into Section 2.
Section 2 is typically where the protein skimmer is located. Water then flows through the ‘Trigger Symbol’ cutout into Section 3.
Section 3 is the refugium section. The water then flows over the second baffle through 2 perforated platforms and under the third baffle into Section 3. The top perforated platform comes with a foam block filter and the bottom one is open to use for several different filtration methods (bag of carbon, bio balls, rubble rock, etc.).
Section 4 is the return water section back into the tank. This is where the return pump will sit.
Interchangeable Plates (PAT PENDING)
Each Sapphire sump comes with two plates that can be placed into Section 1:
- Filter Sock Plate
- Foam Block Plate
The filter sock plate is installed when the included 100 micron filter socks are desired.
The foam block plate is perforated with holes and comes with a foam sponge block filter. The foam block plate can be used when filter socks are not desired or in the case when the filter socks need to be changed or cleaned but replacements socks are not readily available but yet mechanical filtration is needed. In this case, simply remove the filter sock plate and install the perforated foam block plate and then place the included foam sponge block filter in place.
Adjustable Water Level
Water level in the sump is adjustable from 7” to 9.5” to accommodate for the water height requirements for different protein skimmers.
Self-Adjusting Foam Block (PAT PENDING)
As the water level is adjusted by sliding the wall up and down, the foam block sponge filter and the perforated plate that it sits on will also move up and down automatically. This is important to maintain the correct location of the foam block sponge filter with respect to the sump water height.
All Sapphire sumps come with a probe holder that can hold up to three probes. The two outside holes are 0.63” in diameter and the center hole is 0.8” in diameter to fit different sized probes.
All Sapphire sumps also come with 4 holes in the top support brace for holding in place 1/4” OD tubing from reactors, dosing pumps, ATO, etc.
Wonderful Sump By Mary on 9/13/2018Mary would recommend this product to a friendLove the sump. At first the system was a bit noisy but after tweaking the durso overflow everything became whisper quiet. Working pretty good so far and the sapphire blue adds a nice dimension.
Stunning! By Kyle on 5/24/2018Kyle would recommend this product to a friendI ordered my sump with free three day shipping, to my surprise it showed up in TWO DAYS! I couldn't wait to get it open. Very fine craftsmanship, and after a lot of research I came upon this type of design. I couldn't be any happier!!
Great buy By Jeremy on 4/3/2018Jeremy would recommend this product to a friendPros

-probe holders are great has o ring to hold them in place have temp and ph
-large skimmer section
-nice place to put media bag

Worth it! By Tom on 3/8/2018Tom would recommend this product to a friendI had a how made 29 gallon sump under my 90 Gallon set up. It worked well until I started getting more involved with fish and corals. Took me about 2 weeks before I finally made the purchase and I don't regret it. I bought this sump with the intentions of upgrading my tank one day. For now, I capped off one of the overflows. Set up works great. Filtering more waste, made a huge difference in my tank. Plan on dosing and using probes in the future, but for now it's great.
My only complaint, I wish the filter sock section had a little more room so the filter socks aren't so awkward when seating. You have to give them a little force to seat them. Otherwise, I would buy this again in a heart beat. Found no flaws in the design, seals, and plenty of room for variety of things. Ended up buying ceramic plates and spheres for my refugium. Worth it!
I love this sump By thomas on 1/8/2018thomas would recommend this product to a friendI like this sump so much I got the sapphire 26 for a smaller tank
Excellent By Pedro on 1/2/2018Pedro would recommend this product to a friendPros
- huge sections to fit all equipment
-easy to maintain/clean
-filter sock area easy to access and pull right out.
-adjustable water height for skimmer, allows to easily dial in skimmer. ( this is heaven sent)
-probe area for my apex probes worked perfectly.(I use temp and ph probes)
- well constructed very sturdy.
-mine came perfect but my friend bought the same unit and had extra glue in some sections and some tiny bubbles on the glue. He didn’t mind but some people see this and complain.
- probe area could have used an acrylic screw or something to lock the probes in but it doesn’t.(I used a zip tie to hold them all in place)
One of the best sumps in the market you cannot go wrong with this one highly recommended!
Ok Sump By Wil Santiago on 10/19/2017Wil Santiago would recommend this product to a friendComparing this to my Skimz sump the quality and craftsmanship is cheap. The Skimz sump weighs 3 times as much and quality is second to none. The only reason I went with the Trigger sump was that is has a refugium area. If Skimz added a refugium area instead of the wasted ATO water reservoir (which is too small for any resevoir), I would have stayed with Skimz. With this Trigger sump I don't run filter socks because with my skimmer in place it's nearly impossible to get the socks out or in.
A little disapointed By Matt on 6/22/2017Matt would recommend this product to a friendIt took me a few months of planning before I decided on a commercial made sump. The Sapphire 34 was a good fit for my stand, and I got it during the Father's Day Sale. It arrived today, and the first thing that I noticed was the excess glue all over the outside panels. Lots of air bubbles in the seams, and a number of scratches in the sides. I'm glad I didn't pay full retail, it looks like it was assembled at 4:55 pm on a Friday.
Excellent build quality By John on 3/6/2017John would recommend this product to a friendThis sump Rocks! Sapphire is striking (wish i had glass doors). Current use is on 75 gallon FOWLR system . Went with large sump so i have room if i go with larger tank. This fit perfect under standard 75gl stand ,just had to install while tank was empty. Thanks BRS excellent customer service !!!
How many gallon refugium would this sump hold?
For how many gallons is this recommended
We would recommend this sump for tanks anywhere from 75-125 gallons. You should get as big of a sump that the space you intend to use will allow.
