  • Reef link...maybe it will, maybe it won't ! By Daniel on 11/9/2017

I recently purchased a Reef link along with two Radion XR15. I have owned 3 Vortech MP40 pumps as well. I have always been a fan of the vortech pumps, and I have been very pleased with the new Radion lights. However, where ecotech excels in those two departments, it obviously fails in their reef link product. When the reef link works, it works great. However, my unit seems to have issues picking up all my Vortech pumps. It will pick up 2 of the 3 all the time, but inevitably there is always one that it will pick up and then drop moments later. The frustration of dealing with this issue is not worth it. The unit seems to find my lights much easier than pumps (and these are the new QD models or were ES models that new QD drivers were purchased). I won't even begin to go into detail on the impossibility I had of trying to update the firmware on my ES models, which led me just to upgrade to the QD. So, in summary, if it finds the devices, the reef link is may be the lucky one to have no issues. I have not been.
  • Great setup and its working great By Jerry on 11/1/2017

I only use it for the Light as I don't have the pumps but for the lights, its great and my phone connects fine. So far so good :). I plan to use it for my other light that I get Friday. 11/3
  • Not Worth The (Constant) Effort By RoyD on 10/28/2017

I agree with a previous reviewer: It is "great when it works", it just never works for long!!! It constantly has to be setup over and over and over. It's an awesome idea, but it is EXTREMELY POORLY implemented. Just stick with the (awesome) Vortech pumps and their manual controllers. Not nearly as flexible, but it least it works!
  • Total CRAP ! By JojoJacobs on 10/27/2017

Seldom works properly, constantly have to reboot/reprogram/reload. System "fritzes out" without warning and goes into bizarre modes (has even gone into crazy mode that blows water out of my tank, with no warning)!. Save yourself the nightmare of trying to set this system up. And you can FORGET ABOUT any help from their phone support -- TOTALLY WORTHLESS !!!
  • WAAAAY too unreliable, and "customer support" is PATHETIC By Jim-Bob on 10/10/2017

I've struggled with this damned thing for months, now. Sometimes it works, but mostly it does not. And their "support techs" just run you around in circles, and never seem to be able to resolve the problems that CONSTANTLY arise with this piece of junk. Do yourself a favor -- stay away from the Ecotech Reeflink -- these people have NO IDEA what they're doing !!!
  • Painful to setup, but works By WebCitz on 9/10/2017

It took about 4 hours to get this working, only because our Sophos XG firewall was blocking it. Didn't call tech support because they weren't open after 4pm. The system works - don't get me wrong. However, I might try the WXM module to be able to remove the extra firewall rules I had to setup to make this work properly.
  • EcoTech must-have By FloMojo on 7/12/2017

If you own anything from Ecotech, the reeflink is a must-have. It can take a bit of patience setting it up but it's worth the effort. Ecotech is very responsive and available to help uou through any snags. Once its up and running, it's one of those things you wish you had gotten a long ago. Wireless control, syncing different equipment, ease of programing, and the cool factor make this product a must-have. Get it!
  • It works great after its set up By Matthew on 4/28/2017

This piece of equipment takes a little patience to set up, but once it is running and updated it was very easy to get my MP10WQD and my XR30 G3 all sync'd up and running great. This piece adds some extra flexibility with the Vortech schedule as well, I found this an added bonus. I know some people have had problems setting these up, but if you take your time and try not to get aggravated it is well worth adding to your Ecotech arsenal.
  • Excellent Product no Issues By NYC Braveheart on 4/16/2017

I must admit to setup the reeflink initially is pain staking but after setup there is no problems. I love the reeflink, set it and forget
  • Not worth the money By Troy on 3/25/2017

It is a good product when it works. I just wish it would work reliably. I seem to spend a lot of time troubleshooting why it's not working
  • Stay Away By Reef from Florida on 3/13/2017

This product is not reliable. My went bad after I did firmware upgrade.
What sucks, they force you do the firmware update, because you get so desperate trying to make this reliable. My level of networking is high.
  • It does bring it all together By B-Rock on 1/30/2017

I love the individual pieces but the reef link is rather difficult to set up in regards to adding and controlling the lights, pumps, and return pump. First It took two different email address to finally create an account, Then the app will work on my iPhone but not my iPad. I ended up having to factory reset my equipment multiple times before I got it all set up. the wireless connection is finicky at best and it takes several attempts to save a schedule as the connection times out during the save process. Overall if you have the vortech's, vectra, and radion's like me it's a must. Truly these are all first world problems and the individual products are great but I have found the AI director to be more user friendly with instal and easier to control.

Product Questions

Can I control the MP10W with this unit?
Question by: Noob on Dec 12, 2013 5:26:00 AM
At the current time you cannot but that is a feature that is being worked on and expected to be live by early 2014.

Do I need reeflink to access my mp10wqd from the ecosmart live app or sync with a second pump?
Question by: nik buhl on Mar 19, 2016 4:24:00 PM
Great question!
You will need to reeflink to connect the MP10 to Ecosmart Live. You can program the wireless pumps to run a master slave without the reeflink however it does make the process easier. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!

Can I use this with my gen 2 xr30
Question by: Rodolfo Sanchez on Mar 5, 2017 9:52:00 PM
Hey there,
The Radion Gen 2's use the same RF signal and are compatible with the Reeflink.

Have a great day!
Answer by: Zack (Admin) on Mar 9, 2017 1:47:00 PM
I'm either thinking of getting the radion Xr30 or xr15w is the reef link the only way to control the lighting through the phone or app or do the lights already come with a link in itself to have 100% control of them
Question by: John on Feb 6, 2017 7:29:00 PM
Great question! The only way to control the lights, out of the box, is through a USB connection directly to your computer or laptop. If you wanted mobile/tablet access, you would need this ReefLink or a full aquarium controller like Neptune Apex with a WXM module. :-)
Answer by: Randy (Admin) on Feb 7, 2017 11:08:00 AM
According to the site if I buy a VorTech I am supposed to recieve 50% off of a reef link, however I go all the way through the order process without actually submitting my order and the 50% is not coming off. Any way to rectify this?
Question by: Nicholas on Aug 4, 2014 5:29:00 PM
Hi Nicholas,
Every product that is eligible (like a VorTech) has two options on the page that you can add to your cart, either just the VorTech, or the VorTech + Reeflink where the additional cost for the Reef Link is only 50% of its normal price. You just want to add that particular product to your shopping cart.
Answer by: Bulk Reef Supply on Aug 4, 2014 5:29:00 PM
How many different pumps/lights can u control? Currently have wxm but I have 4 rations and over 15 vortechs. I will sell wxm if I can control them all
Question by: Michael on May 10, 2014 1:14:00 PM
Hey Michael,
The Reef Link is capable of controlling any combination of up to 64 devices. In fact, here at the office we probably have the better part of 2 dozen devices hooked up between all of our tanks, Radions, VorTechs, etc.
