Tuning Your New LED Light
Most LED lights will actually put out more light than your corals will actually need and without a PAR Meter to test the overall output, it is really hard to guess if the light is too dim or intense. We highly suggest using a PAR Meter to test the output of your lights at different points throughout your tank that you can use to tune the lights output or know where to put specific corals.

Great question! To get a precise answer you will want to test your PAR levels, however one of the biggest perks of AI is that they have their signature series: http://www.aquaillumination.com/signature/ which has multiple proven successful light schedules. This will eliminate lighting as a barrier to success and the intensity as well as time of day can easily be fine tuned to your needs by swiping up/down and left/right with 3 fingers inside the MyAI app. As for mounting height I prefer at least 12" above the water surface to minimize salt creep from developing on the light.
Happy reefing! :)
They would not be compatible so a master/slave relationship would not be possible using a non-HD prime.
The AI Prime combined the T5 hybrid fixture should be plenty of light for your frag tank.
If you haven't already watched our videos on the AI Prime and the T5 hybrid you should check them out. We have a ton of great information on these lights including PAR charts that should give you a good idea of their potential.
I hope this helps!
If you could we would almost suggest using 3x AI Primes if not even four total. We have found over the past couple years, it isn’t all about the intensity of the light but the overall spread and evenness. For a non-SPS tank, two should do just fine if you can mount them high enough to get even coverage. Using two Hydra 26 modules would be better, however, it would not make a difference in success or failure. The AI Primes put out a lot of light, and personally, I would rather have more single lights that let me control the distance between them than a larger light that does not give me that aspect of control.
Have a great day!
Unfortunately a glass shield would have a negative affect on light intensity and can actually reflect/block a significant amount of light from the fixture.
Have a great day!
A single Prime HD would be a very nice light on the Reefer 170 and with the tanks 18 x 18” footprint, we would suggest going with the 18” Prime Flex Arm. That would give you a good height for the light above the tank while giving you the ability to center it over the tank as well.
Thanks for the questions and if you have any more just let us know.
This will be limited for penetration much deeper than 12". We do not recommend this light for a 60 cube. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!
If the light is placed close enough and it is softies mixed reef tank you certainly could use several Primes for coverage!
This certainly can work with some SPS no problem as long as you keep the SPS in the 12" range and adjust the light intensity accordingly. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions.
This light will be a great fit for the New Nuvo Concept tanks! Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!
This is not quite large enough with penetration to cover the 75 gallon system. Instead we recommend the Hydra 26 HD's x2. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!
These will be a little limited and for best growth and spread we recommend the Hydra 52 with a 30" x 24" spread.
