Bring the Benefits of Ocean-Matured Live Rock to Your Reef
- Fully Cured Maricultured Live Rock
- Matured in the Florida Keys
- Introduces Beneficial Bacteria & Diverse Marine Life
- Helps Establish Biological Filtration & Reduce the Ugly Stage
- Ships Wet via Included Overnight Shipping
MarcoRocks MR Maricultured Live Rock combines the aquascaping potential of MarcoRocks with the biological diversity of true ocean-matured live rock. Each piece begins as MR Reef Saver dry rock before being placed in the waters of the Florida Keys, where it matures over time and develops a diverse population of beneficial bacteria and marine life.
Once harvested, the rock is transferred to MarcoRocks' aquacultured greenhouse systems, where each piece is carefully inspected and monitored before shipping. The result is fully cured live rock that's ready to be introduced to your aquarium without a separate curing or cycling process.
Adding established live rock can help quickly introduce biological diversity to a new reef, seed a dry-rock aquascape, and reduce the severity and duration of the typical new-tank "ugly stage." Because this is genuine live rock, you may also discover sponges, corals, and other marine organisms living on or within the rock.
Available Sizes
- 5 lbs (Rubble Rock): 25-40 small rubble pieces ideal for refugiums, boosting biological filtration, or seeding a dry rock aquascape.
- 10 lbs: Approx. 3-4 pieces
- 20 lbs: Approx. 4-7 pieces
- 32 lbs: Approx. 5-7 larger pieces
Fully Cured & Ready for Your Aquarium
MR Maricultured Live Rock arrives fully cured and does not require a traditional curing or cycling period before being added to your aquarium. As with any shipped live rock, a small amount of die-off can occur during transit. After adding the rock, it's a good idea to monitor your water parameters and feed lightly for a short period, particularly when adding it to an established aquarium.
Some color loss during the first week is normal as the rock adjusts from MarcoRocks' holding systems to the conditions in your aquarium.
Carefully Inspected Before Shipping
Natural live rock can occasionally carry unexpected hitchhikers. MarcoRocks uses a multi-step inspection process designed to reduce the chances of undesirable marine life or algae making its way into your reef. Once the rock reaches their greenhouse aquaculture systems, each piece is inspected, monitored, and inspected again before shipment.
Because the rock can still contain small marine organisms, worms, or other hitchhikers, it's a good idea to wear gloves whenever handling it.
Packed & Shipped Like Live Coral
Live rock is shipped wet in protective packaging and a thermally insulated box to help preserve the organisms living on and within the rock during transit. While the rock is carefully packed to remain live and fresh for at least 48 hours in transit, MarcoRocks ship via overnight shipping service to target the shortest time possible between their holding system and your aquarium.
For best results, plan to unpack and introduce the rock to your aquarium as soon as possible after delivery. The rock should have a clean, natural ocean smell when opened.
