Triton Detox is composed of different organics that specialize in binding to heavy metals that in excess can be harmful to your aquarium. Detox is the only product on the market that can actually remove copper down to undetectable levels with ICP testing. Heavy metals can be introduced to a reef tank through various items like electronics, foods, tools, and more. Some of the most common sources are faulty pump wiring, biopellets, poorly filtered source water, and foods, which in excess can cause coral to bleach with little to no polyp extension and prolonged exposure can be fatal to coral. To make sure that your tank has the correct levels make sure to employ Tritons ICP-OES testing.

Instructions:

Remove any activated carbon sources from your aquarium. Add up to 3mL per 100L of water volume and let the system run for 72 hours. A brown discoloration of the aquarium water is normal and is harmless. Replace the activated carbon that was removed with fresh carbon. The new carbon will remove the brown discoloration along with the heavy metals that are bound to it.

It is highly recommended to utilize Triton ICP-OES testing for dosage requirements.

Product Questions

will it remove cupramine from water?
Question by: Hami on Nov 25, 2017, 5:05 PM
Detox is known to remove free copper down to undetectable levels. However, due to the formulation of cupramine, it is not fully clear yet whether Detox will be effective and removing this product. You may want to contact Triton directly to see if there are any new finding about this particular use.

Have a great day!

Knowing that I have metals in the tank, do I have to send in a Triton test?
Or can I just dose according to the dosage for my size tank.
Question by: Zarek Goeken on Nov 18, 2017, 7:03 PM
You could just dose it, but without an ICP test you do not know how much to dose or down the line if you even still need to. We highly suggest getting a baseline test done by Triton, and they will give you a recipe to correct any issues you have.

Will this product remove tin from aquarium water? If not, is there another product that will?
Question by: John Brady on Oct 28, 2017, 8:08 PM
Hey there,

Some reefers have reported reduction in elevated Tin levels using this product, however it's best practice to follow the specific guidelines and approaches that are recommended by Triton for each specific water type and test.
