Thanks to its special formulation, Copper Power is one of the safest and yet most effective copper solutions for treatment of external parasites, such as ich and velvet. Copper Power contains a very stable form of copper medication with low levels of precipitation, and thanks to this it is able to be maintained at higher concentrations of up to 2.5 ppm copper, which is nearly five times the normal toxic level in saltwater. This allows for higher copper concentrations than some medications and more effective treatment protocols, and Copper Power has become the copper treatment of choice for many in the hobby.

Features

  • Highly effective against external parasites such as ich & velvet
  • Super low rate of precipitation of 0.01 mg/1/24 hr- won’t clog fish gills
  • Very stable in saltwater and much less toxic form of copper
  • Will not be removed by carbon filtration & will not cloud the water

Because of Copper Power’s extremely low rate of precipitation, it does not have to be constantly reapplied in order to be effective. One application of Copper Power remains at an active level in the water for months. Copper Power is also a very consistent solution, providing accurate and reliable dosing concentrations.

Always Test

We Recommend the Hanna High Range Copper Checker (HI702)

Whenever treating with copper, we recommend regular testing of copper concentrations to ensure safe and effective treatment. One of the best tools for this is the Hanna Copper Checker. This handheld colorimeter is well worth the cost and allows for precise and highly accurate measurement of copper concentration in your quarantine tank. The copper reading is provided on the digital display with no guessing or color charts to compare.

Accuracy Counts!

We Recommend measuring with BRS Dosing Syringes

When using a medication like copper, there can often be a fine line between the helpful, therapeutic dose and a lethal dose. Don't guesstimate. We recommend using precise, graduated dosing syringes when measuring out copper medication.

Recommended Treatment

It is not necessary to treat at the maximum 2.5 ppm concentration, but a mimimum level of 1.5 ppm copper must be maintained to be effective. We recommend a starting range of 1.5 to 2.0 ppm copper for most treatment protocols, based on community experiences with copper treatment. For the safest and least stressful treatment, we recommend slowly raising copper levels over the course of several days.

  • 1.475 mL per gallon = 2.5 ppm
  • 1.18 mL per gallon = 2.0 ppm
  • .89 mL per gallon = 1.5 ppm

Take your total copper dose required for the system volume, and divide this dose into several smaller doses, applied over the course of a week, in order to reach the desired concentration.

Hey there,
Thank you for reaching out to us. No, it is not.

Please let me know if you need anything further and take care!

How long is the treatment period? My intent is to treat with copper in the QT for all new fish as a preventive measure, as I've heard healthy-looking fish could still be carrying ich.
