Why does BRS recommend this?

Every  tank we set up at BRS we make a screen net top for.  They will save you a ton of money down the line after you have a few fish jump out of your tank, and you find them on the floor.  About half of reef fish will jump high enough to get out of a tank, and unless you are there to get them back in right away, it will most likely end up in a loss.  Clear netting lets about 99% of light through unlike glass or acrylic.

Clear Netting is is commonly used in several DIY projects like DIY aquarium screen tops. Our clear netting lets about 99% of light though, unlike glass tops which can block up to 30% of light trying to get through.  Screen Frame is available at almost any hardware store, however we do stock screen frame and have kits available as well.

With two sizes available (1/8" and 1/4") we suggest selecting a netting size that your smallest fish will not fit though.
