Not worth it wouldn't recommend this product to a friend

Got this because my md-20 iwaki was quiet and this one was super loud. Sent it back and didn't hear back for weeks. It took over a month to get one back so I had to get a different pump from someone else. So the good news is the reeflo blowhole is cheaper and way more quiet.

I use this pump on my saltwater mixing station. Typically I run the pump for 24 hours or so, once or twice a week. It's worked wonderfully so far and I've had no performance issues with it. It is not completely silent, but I have it running in my furnace rooms so I don't hear it. The only complaint I have, is that I had to go to Lowe's and purchase a AC plug and wirenuts to attach the power wires. It comes with the 3 wires coming from the pump and you have to wire the pump yourself. Not a big deal but remember you will spend a couple extra dollars and some time wiring this pump. Overall I would purchase it again, as Iwaki pumps have an excellent reputation.

Pump runs quietly and dependably. No fan on this size, so the housing is pretty hot, but doesn't transfer heat to the water which is important to me. Iwaki is the only brand of external pump I would trust.
