Great Product By John on 9/5/2016John would recommend this product to a friendThis frame is great quality, and goes together very easily. I built 2 tops for my tank, and the finished product is rigid and looks like store bought screen. I'm very pleased.
great stuff By Scott on 4/13/2016Scott would recommend this product to a friendI love these screen top kits and love the price. Just wish I would have measured twice and cut once like dad always said. Oh well, with the great price and great shipping cost, it didn't sting too bad to have to buy a few more pieces.
Perfect By Sppf121 on 4/1/2016Sppf121 would recommend this product to a friendArrived in perfect condition
Why so short? By jsbull on 3/5/2016jsbull wouldn't recommend this product to a friendI bought the kit that came with two 5' pieces. One piece got messed up and now I can't replace it? Please sell the longer lengths that are in your kits. I shouldn't have to spend another $50 for 1 piece of extrusion.
Ez to work with By Michael on 10/20/2015Michael would recommend this product to a friendMy first order of 4' pieces came bent due to shipping service mishandling. BRS quickly had some replacements out to me that arrived in perfect condition. Great customer service. The product itself is very ez to cut to size and looks very nice when its all put together.
Requires Some Patience and Skill By YoseReef on 9/8/2015YoseReef would recommend this product to a friendThe products are a little more expensive than box stores but the parts are higher quality, most notably the knurled spline channel (box stores spline channels are smooth) which holds the screen tightly. If patience is used and a scroll saw the result is a professional screen. Had to make 3 frames to fit my 300DD and I love them!
Not what I thought By Roman on 4/17/2015Roman wouldn't recommend this product to a friendSave yourself the money and buy something at a hardware store I thought these were black but they're bronze like color. I'll have to paint them black to match my aquarium top so it wouldn't have made a difference where I had bought these window frames from.
Not the easiest DIY cover By JediMasterMatt on 3/25/2015JediMasterMatt wouldn't recommend this product to a friendI bought the DIY screen kit to make my own lid for my Mr. Aqua 12 gallon long aquarium. Having a HOB filter and cords that needed 'cutouts' was a hassle. After being frustrated with the inability to keep the frame straight after a cutout was made and after adding the mesh, I gave up.
Instead I used an eggcrate light diffuser which was so much easier I couldn't believe it!
DIY screens By Harpo on 1/24/2015Harpo would recommend this product to a friendEasy to assy. and easy to modify if needed. I gave it a 4 because of the frame should be plastic. I had mine for a time and the coating is effected by the saltwater.
perfect By wood on 12/20/2013wood would recommend this product to a friendThe first came bent but they replaced with no problem. I cut each piece to fit perfect no problem at all
Easy to assemble, looks great!!! By Troy on 3/2/2013Troy would recommend this product to a friendI ordered the frame sections, corners, screen, spline, and spline roller. I followed BRS's youtube video on assembly and it was easy. The finished product looks great on the tank. I love the fact that BRS leverages youtube the way they do. It is easy and very informative, one of the primary reasons why I go to them for my supplies...:)
Easy as hell By Steve on 12/9/2012Steve would recommend this product to a friendSo easy to put together a chimp could do it. Great product !
Ask a question
The frame is made out of aluminum.
We do not carry any plastic framing at this time. We have found the aluminum framing to be the best option for this application. I have actually been using our frames on my system at home and have not noticed any appreciable amount of oxidation on my over the course of a few years. I have noticed that salt creep tends to collect in the corners so that may be the bulk of what you are seeing.
While there may be a small amount of oxidation at the cut ends or where paint may have been worn away I would not consider it a threat to your system. If there is a build up of salt on your tops it may be a good idea to clean them periodically. Simply rinse the frame and screen with fresh water and wipe away and build up of salt or oxidation.
I hope this helps!
Have a great day :)
With the set up you are planning, you could order an extra two 2' frames in order to plan ahead to make the two 2x2 sections
The frame is made out of aluminum and nope, it won't rust.
The frames themselves are made of aluminum. The corners are made of plastic.
