  • No bueno By Wil on 5/16/2016

Looks great and does work. However 3rd use the felt started to peel on the corners of the outside magnet. BRS had me contact Vertex who offered a new one or replacement pads. While ill be going back with either my Piranha or Flipper the Vertex customer service appears to be good.
  • Good product By Jim on 11/29/2015

Item is small but perfect for my nano 24. Takes a little longer to clean but small profile works around rocks and is easy to conceal when not in use. Only thing it misses is a float on the inside piece.
  • Great for nano tanks By La Ficticia on 2/4/2015

I've had the Simplex on my 8 gallon tank for about a year, so I decided to get the Duplex for my 37 gallon tank. I love how small the inside magnet is, it allows you to reach very tight spaces. It isn't strong enough to remove coralline algae, so a razor blade is still needed for that. But when I use the Cleaner-Mag often enough, I don' t need to scrape coralline very often.

After several months of having the mag in the tank, the scraper piece (fyi, it's basically half of a piece of velcro) on the inside magnet began to peel off. But after I removed the mag, repositioned the velcro and let it dry, it stayed put. Now I just keep the magnet outside the tank and only have it in when using it. I haven't had problems since.

I've also noticed that the Duplex has more of a tendency to separate when shifting it from one panel of the glass to another. To fix that, I keep the long side of the magnet parallel to the corner of the glass.

In spite of the small caveats above I think this magnet is worth it because it's so small and fits in tight spaces.
  • I like it! By RNMike on 1/21/2015

OK, so too many people are complaining about the size of this thing. If you payed attention, you'd know it is small. I have a Nuvo 16 gal reef. This thing is perfect. I love the size, it's a strong magnet and it looks really cool. Great cleaner, I'm really happy with it.
  • Excellent Magnetic Scraper for a Small Aquarium By elwaine on 12/7/2014

The Vortex Duplex gets into tight spots and does an excellent job scraping algae of the glass. It's thin, yet very strong.

I have a 4 gallon pico reef aquarium. Mag Float scrapers are two large. The small soft magnetic cleaner from Two Little Fishes is OK in some tight spots, but not really strong enough to scrape off all the algae from the glass. The Vortex Simplex (which I also have) isn't much better than the Two Little Fishes scraper; however, the Vortex Duplex has a much stronger "pull" and does an excellent job cleaning the inside glass surfaces.
  • Small, yet reflective! By C. Stephenson on 8/16/2014

Bought this for my biocube 29.
It's small and super thin on the scrubber side which is perfect for a Biocube.
Cause of it's size, it takes a little longer to clean the glass, but way easier to get around rock work than a mag float.
The scrubber pad was also more effective than my mag float, which was only a few months old and was removed from tank after every cleaning, to keep bristles stiff.
Overall, if you get the proper size for your tank, it works great!
  • way to small By caveman on 5/27/2014

I have to agree with the other posts on the deceiving pictures. The mag-flip gives you dimensions. I thought it was a mistake when I saw the box. It's so small!!
  • excellent product By Chris on 5/22/2014

Receive my cleaner magnet today was so excited to finally get it. And it worked like it should.
  • Excellent magnet cleaner with only one real drawback By Kyle on 3/20/2014

First time I saw these cleaners, I had to have them. Drop dead gorgeous! Especially coming from someone who's used to staring at a giant blue magfloat stuck to the front glass. Crystal clear body with VERY strong magnets (neodymium I believe). Product just oozes high end. Even the packaging feels like an iphone came out of it haha! The only real drawback that kept me from giving it 5 stars is that it doesn't float. When choosing it, it came down to looks or utility. In my case, looks won out. Other then that, this is a excellent mag cleaner. Powerful magnets, very well made and gorgeous looks. Would recommend!
  • cleans good but size is deceiving By Ivan on 1/9/2014

well i got it and the size in the pics is deceiving from when you actually have it in your hand. it cleans the algae off the glass really well though which is good but the size is disappointing.
  • Vertex Duplex By Jorge on 10/25/2013

This product doesn't just look great it performs like it's supposed to I love it
  • Meh....(Cont.) By Stephen on 10/17/2013

After further use of this magnet I've decided its not worth the money, the felt side is already peeling off....just buy a magfloat

Will this scratch acrylic?
Question by: James Barrett on Mar 10, 2016 10:24:00 AM
Great question!
This should not scratch the acrylic of the tank unless sand or other particles get in between the magnet. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!
