The features of the Skimz Sumpro series have been designed with the advanced reefer in mind, many of which you will normally only find on expensive, high end sumps. All Skimz sumps include integrated probe holders, filter socks, tube holders and an adjustable skimmer chamber. With a super clear front acrylic window allowing you see your equipment without any distortion and all other sides are white to keep things bright and super sharp looking.
DuoFlo Sock Chamber
With the importance of crystal clear water every Skimz sump comes with a DuoFlo tiered filter sock system. The system incorporates two filter socks of different lengths in a series allowing for fewer changes of both filter socks, and the ability to install a progressive micron system of filter socks.
Allows quick and steady adjustments of the water height in the skimmer chamber by controlling an adjustable baffle. There are no thumb screws to mess around with like many of the competitors and your hands will stay dry when adjusting the baffle allowing your choice of skimmer to perform at its prime level.
Each Skimz Sumpro Sump comes with 4 integrated probe holders that will accompany any type of probe up to ½” diameter.
Dosing tubes can always be a source of clutter and headache to keep looking clean and not a tangled mess. Every Skimz Sumpro sump comes with 4 dosing tubes letting you dose anything you want from trace element solutions, calcium reactor effluent, nitrate reactors, or anything else that uses standard 3/16” tubing.
Select Skimz models even include and integrated top-off chamber to house freshwater, just add an ATO unit and your set. The compartment that is dedicated for fresh top off water even includes a perfectly fitting lid that includes notches allowing the ATO's power cord and tubing to sneak through without modification.
The Refugium Chamber on select models of the Sumpro’s will allow you to grow beneficial macroalgae to help combat nutrient build up as well as house zooplanktons like copepods and amphipods. The Refugium section does have white acrylic baffles keeping the light in the refugium and from spilling out onto other equipment.

Been running since 2018 By duromega on 4/22/2020duromega would recommend this product to a friendI am so happy with this sump, it has a lot of features that will save you money, like the ATO and prove holders?
why overpay for an ugly plain sump, better to just to a 40 breeder DIY sump
you won't be disappointed, add to cart and pay!
Leaking By Robert on 10/24/2019Robert wouldn't recommend this product to a friendSump is leaking after only four months of use.
A great sump for a reasonable price By ibryson on 3/21/2018ibryson would recommend this product to a friendI chose to get this sump for my 180 gallon aquarium. I originally wanted to build my own sump out of a 55g but decided this was the better route. The packaging was excellent and everything arrived in one piece. Was very easy to "assemble" and looks even better in person than it did on the computer. The price tag is what made me choose this over the Trigger ones. Plus, the filter sock location is more accessible! Although I dont have it running yet, so far I have no complaints!
Top performing sump By Ringer on 1/20/2018Ringer would recommend this product to a friendFirst marine aquarium in 1983, and this is my 5th sump in all these years. I reviewed many sumps(only very high end), and settled on SKIMZ UP39. The filter sock placement is perfect and unique! The SKIMZ socks are so easy to rinse and re-use, NO more buying felt filter socks! The next section is where I have our skimmer (TUNZE), and it fits perfectly, and is properly positioned before the refugium. The final return section contains enough room for return pump, ATO sensor, reactor pump, etc. The overall build quality is superb, and surpasses many of the other sumps on the market! This product arrived in pristine shape, because it was packaged very well(unlike what some others have said)! I hard plumbed our sump with schedule 80 and the BRS orange pipe, the entire package looks like a laboratory! Thank you BRS and SKIMZ!!
awesome By Jesse on 1/7/2018Jesse would recommend this product to a friendI really enjoy this sump. I switched my skimmer and fuge section however. I use a stand to keep my water level correct for my skimmer. over all great quality and i think its a great design.
Perfect By Raymond on 10/29/2017Raymond would recommend this product to a friendThis is the perfect reef sump.
Pleased By Tony on 8/4/2017Tony would recommend this product to a friendI've had the UP39 sump for about 2 months now. It has worked great. I'm not using the ATO reservoir because it is just too small for my 125 gal display. The probe holders work awesome with my Apex probes. The dosing ports are working wonderful with my 2 part setup. If I was able to change one thing it would be to swap the refuge and skimmer sections. My skimmer is too big for the first section and I would prefer to have the refuge second. Other than that it is a great design and quality product.
Packed well By Patrick on 4/21/2017Patrick would recommend this product to a friendI have not setup the sump yet but I read a lot of reviews about the packaging of the sump and damage when shipping. I can report that they have packed this thing like a tank. The cardboard around it is reinforced cardboard. The top piece was very thick. If you are thinking against this sump because of shipping think again as it is done very well. I will update on the sump once installed.
Excellent sump By Santhosh on 11/30/2016Santhosh would recommend this product to a friendImpressed by this Skimz sump design and quality. Looks like a show piece under my tank. Best of all, it priced right.
Great look and features but could be better. By Zach on 8/23/2016Zach would recommend this product to a friendI bought this to go along with a 120 gallon that I was starting up. First of the quality is there, everything looked great out of the box. Probe holders, Dosing line holders, a ATO container and a gate to control the water level were the reasons I bought this. It seemed like it was everything I could want in a sump, but that is where the good ends. There are no bubble traps at all. At the entrance to the sump I understand why since it has filter socks and exit to the second chamber underwater. The third chamber needs it though. I have been trying to control those using filter media in the holder. Also speaking of the media holder, I wish it went the whole was across the sump. It is about 8 inches and detritus like to collect in the rear of the chamber. I had to add a Hydor PH to prevent this from happening. Also a clip on Fuge light can not be added since the rim is way too thick.
Like I said it could be a better sump and if I ever need another sump in the future I will pass on skimz unless they change their design. A Trigger Ruby will be the next one.
What type of material would you use in the Refugium
Most hobbyists will also have some type of macro algae as well (caulerpa, Chaetomorpha, Etc.)
Being as how the water enters into the refugium chamber through the bottom, it doesn't appear that a substrate is a viable option. It's hard to tell from the pictures but, is there a reason why the skimmer chamber couldn't be used as the refugium and vice versa?
No reason they cannot be used in reverse order. many people like the skimmer first and refugium second to help capture any micro bubbles.
What size pvc is used for the overflow
How thick acrylic do they use for their sumps and is the top a single continuous piece of acrylic?
The walls are 3/8" thick, all other baffles and braces are 1/4" thick. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!
Does this sump use standard 4" filter socks?
When my return pump shuts off my display tank drains about 19 gallons into my sump. Will this sump hold that much water when the power goes out and my DT drains?
this will depend on where the baffles are set however the sump could hold typically 15-18 gallons extra flow. We recommend a check valve to keep excess water from flowing down the return lines.
