Skimz SN143 Monzter Mini Protein Skimmer
The SN series of protein skimmers are ideal for tanks that do not have a lot of space in the sump available. The footprint is under 7 3/4" x 8" which makes it very easy to fit in almost all locations and sump types.
Updated QPS DC Controllable Pump
All Skims SN143 skimmers now come with the updated QuietPro 2.0 controllable DC powered pump. With multiple power modes, you now have full control over the amount of water and air that are flowing into your skimmer. The updated pump has had the electronic control devices integrated into the controller instead of the motor block like most other DC pumps. That now eliminated the chance of heat or water coming into contact with the sensitive parts of the pump, leading to a much longer life.
Every SN143-QP skimmer also comes with a LED display controller that lets you custom set the speed of the pump while monitoring the wattage draw.

Would recommend but pump quit at 2.5 years By Dennis on 4/22/2018Dennis would recommend this product to a friendGood product for the price. I have it on a 90 gal with 40 gal sump. Sort of tricky to get it dialed in as with any Skimmer. I bought this in 9-2015. The DC pump quit working recently. Replacing the pump is half the cost of a new skimmer kit. So the pump lasted about 2.5 years. I would buy it again although I would get a larger one for my setup.
Microbubbles By Erick on 12/3/2017Erick would recommend this product to a friendWould only recommend if your sump has the perfect bubble trap. Going on 2 weeks and even tho the micro bubbles have settled a lot! I’m still left with quite a bit of microbubbles exiting the water level door threw my bubble trap and back into my display. Everything else works like a dream but the bubbles in my DT is kind of a deal breaker for me.
Works great By Erick on 12/1/2017Erick would recommend this product to a friendThis thing is breaking in extreamely well. Every day is a huge step in acheiveing that perfect skimmate. Only thing I didn’t like is that it is the same body as the older model, the pump is the only difference here with the sn143-qp. same packaging too I got an old user manual and even a spare part from an older version(piece used to anchor the bubble plate to the pump). The collection cup is extremely hard to get off and that’s why I docked it a star and because the other qp models have newer additions to the body like the new red gate valve and smoother collection cups. It does deserve 4 stars tho because it is a very good skimmer with a solid build
Skimz SN143-QP By Daniel on 10/12/2017Daniel would recommend this product to a friendI purchased the Skimz SN143-QP from BRS when the pump on my real old Vertex I had bought used went bad and had trouble finding a replacement. I cleaned the skimmer and almost immediately after turning the skimmer on, it started to bring up some scum. It took a little bit to get the adjustment right because I replaced the skimmer at the same time as replacing my old sump with a new Skimz UP30, so with everything having so many options for water height, speed on the DC pump, and volume of air coming into the skimmer. Once I figured it out, it immediately started to pull all kind of junk out of my tank that my old skimmer was letting pass right through. The pump is really quiet, only can hear a slight hum at full power, but if you lower the power on the DC controller, it quiets right down. The air being pulled in through the silencer was actually louder than the pump! Has been running for a couple weeks and I empty the cup usually every day or every other day depending on whether I close the valve too much and it wet skims or open it to lower the water height to dry skim. Definitely worth buying and BRS was awesome to deal with!!
