- Red Sea Alkalinity Pro Test Kit
Our favorite all around test kits are the red sea kits. With easy to follow directions, and consistent results, the Red Sea Alkalinity test kit can always be found in our testing closet. The titration is made even easier with the included syringe holder that makes much easier and quicker than almost all other test kits.
Healthy coral growth depends on providing a proper balance of Calcium, Alkalinity and Magnesium. Red Sea Alkalinity Pro Test Kit accurately measures alkalintiy levels.
KH/Alkalinity Kit includes:
- 75 tests
- Analytical grade glass vials
- Easy-to-use, high precision Titrator
- Affordable reagent refills
Red Sea produces a line of kits they call the Reef Foundation kits including Calcium, Alkalinity and Magnesium. Providing a balance of these elements promotes proper coral health and growth.
Red Sea Alkalinity Pro Test Kit Includes:
- 75 tests
- Accuracy: ±0.025 ppm
- Range: ∞
- Test Type: Titrator
- Affordable reagent refills
A successful coral reef aquarium depends on how well you maintain the water parameters which are the key to a stable coral environment. All of the elements found in natural seawater play a role in providing optimal water parameters, but some are more significant than others. These elements, the foundation of the reef environment, include the three major elements: Calcium (Ca), Magnesium (Mg) and Carbonates (CO3). All three have a major effect on water chemistry (pH stability, Alkalinity, ionic strength) and on many of the coral’s biological processes (skeleton formation, ions exchange, photosynthesis).
The foundation elements complement each other in the formation of coral skeleton. If not balanced correctly one of the elements will quickly limit healthy coral growth. Using Red Sea test kits will allow you to accurately measure these levels and guide you on your path to reefing success.
Difficult to read results By Doug on 10/2/2018Doug wouldn't recommend this product to a friendI'm a big fan of Red Sea Pro test kits and have many, but the Alk is very hard for me to pinpoint the transition. The other kits have a more distinct transition. I'll keep the others, but use something else for Alk.
too hard to discern color change By Mark on 2/3/2018Mark wouldn't recommend this product to a friendI have nearly every test kit Red Sea offers and I love them all except the alk kit. The test sample starts out blue then changes to pale yellow, maybe pink. Worthless. I'll keep the other RS kits and go back to API for the alk.
A+++++ By Todd on 8/14/2017Todd would recommend this product to a friendExcellent kit. Basic and easy to use. Very nice kit. And after depleted you can buy refilled and save more money!
Will Never Buy Red Sea Again By Nick on 6/5/2017Nick wouldn't recommend this product to a friendRed Sea Alkalinity tested at 8 dkh on two test kits that I had. One of them was brand new. Started having corals (specifically SPS) die and couldn't figure out why. Finally had my water tested by an outside source and my alk was at 5 dkh! I would just buy a standard API test kit and save your money.
Inconclusive By 9sticknate on 1/21/20179sticknate wouldn't recommend this product to a friendI had used this product in the past and I loved it. Unfortunately, Red Sea had changed the color of the titration solution. The coloration turns from a light blue to a orange/yellow mix. It's a very mild transition and I find it difficult to judge if there was a change or not. The diagram of the instructions displays red as the color of titration. Red Sea... Why did you change a good test kit?
Bad By Bradley on 7/2/2016Bradley wouldn't recommend this product to a friendFirst of all i purchased the Red Sea kit with the Ca, Alk, and Mg tests. Everything was great except for the Alk test. The color change when doing the titration on this product is not very discernible. Possibly i received a dud, however, i have read about a lot of people experiencing the same thing on the forums as well. When doing the titration you add the red reagent your vial of 10ml water. Initially it turns blue and as you progress the color is supposed to turn to red. Well with my test the color slowly fades from blue to a peachy yellow color. During this there is no point where you completely know when the color has changed. I have experience with multiple college chemistry classes, this isn't my first encounter with a titration. Hope this helps. I have since purchased a Hannah checker for my Alk test and it works wonderfully.
Red Sea Makes Great Stuff By LVR on 1/24/2015LVR would recommend this product to a friendHave been using the red sea line of products for five years. their test kits are just one of their outstanding products. they give good results and there are vids to help you use them correctly. I am a firm believer in red sea.
Good product By Stephanie on 9/28/2014Stephanie would recommend this product to a friendThe shipping was fast and test kit was fairly easy to use. I was a little confused on determining the results at first but was able to figure it out. Overall a good product.
Top Notch By Chris on 2/13/2014Chris would recommend this product to a friendI've used Salifert kits for over a decade, but decided to try something different. This is a very good kit and the plus for me is the color change and chart provides more of a contrast.
My problem with many of the Salifert (and other makers) is the contrast of colors is so slight I have a difficult time reading them. I am color blind, so I need more contrast than other users.
I ran this against the Salifert results twice so far and both have produced the same readings. I would recommend both test kits, but if you are color blind I would spend the extra on this kit.
Effective and easy to use By Gob on 1/11/2014Gob would recommend this product to a friendI have been using this test for a while and find it simple to use. The results are relatively clear and easy to read. When I compared the results to a Salifert test they were exactly the same.
Awesome! By Vernon on 12/15/2013Vernon would recommend this product to a friendI hate testing my water almost as much as I hate testing kits. They are never easy to use or read. This kit is actually kind of fun to use, and it's super easy to read. There really isn't an "iffy" area of the test. The water is either the end point color or it isn't. There is no real guessing involved, and it's not a messy kit.
Strange colors!! By Mike on 4/14/2013Mike would recommend this product to a friendSo I have purchased these test kits before and the strangest thing the color is yellow Not orange. Going to have to call tomorrow and see if they can refund me and send me a new one!! But all in all a great test kit first time ever receiving a faulty product! Maybe just my luck??
