- Random Flow Generators for Loc-Line - Vivid Creative Aquatics
Attaches to 1/2", 3/4" Loc-Line and creates random flow patterns.
Vivid Creative Aquatics 3D printed random flow generators easily snap onto standard Loc-Line segments for a custom flow pattern through their patent pending randomized design. Each RFG is made of reef-safe PETG plastic and made to outlast your aquarium. Just snap the adapter end onto either 1/2" or 3/4" loc-line and within seconds you can direct the nozzle with the traditional ball and socket style.
Two Sizes Available:
Vivid Creative Aquatics revolutionary design uses a set of 5 fins in a spiraling design that channels the water in from one direction at the base of the eductor and then out of the nozzle a different direction. The small amount of interference at the base of the eductor helps create a random change in the intake affecting the path of the flow exiting the nozzle.

I love it By Joshua on 4/23/2019Joshua would recommend this product to a friendIt does as it is stated. My water is randomized very well. I have two 1 inch ones in my tank. I would say worth the buy.
Awesome Product By Daniel-san on 3/22/2019Daniel-san would recommend this product to a friendI ordered these for all of my Red Sea Reefer systems. They vary the flow which is what I wanted. Simple plug and play. Took less than 1 min to Install. Thanks VCS and BRS for selling these.
Definitely helps with random flow By Ian on 11/22/2018Ian would recommend this product to a friendI really like these when compared to the standard flat return loc-line return head. The flow is absolutely more random creating more turbulence in the tank. The only down side is you are not able to put them quite as close to the water surface because they draw air into the venturi making a lot of bubbles. Because of this, there is potential for a longer duration siphon when my return pump is off. My sump would be absolutely filled to the maximum, or a little past. I do have wye check valves as a back up, but also drilled a small 1/8" hole in each return line up stream of the head for redundancy. All that said, a little pricey compared to the simple loc-line, but highly recommended to mix up your flow.
Doesn't Fit By Josh on 9/22/2018Josh wouldn't recommend this product to a friendOrdered two of the 1/2" ones and they are both just a little too large to fit on the loc line
Kill dead spots By Mayerlyn on 9/13/2018Mayerlyn would recommend this product to a friendJust put these in my tank, so far they are working great getting rid of the dead spots in my tank. I could see the flow moving particles right away. Glad I bought these. They do come off easy though , just have to be careful when adjusting. Some others have suggested electrical tape, I haven’t tried that yet but I am sure it would help.
Limits Flow ALOT By Nathan on 8/10/2018Nathan wouldn't recommend this product to a friendYes this creates somewhat random flow. It does however easily suck air with a lot of water moving through it. I have high flow pumps and these drastically increased the head pressure and slowed the flow. It does fit very loose but with the tape it isn't a big deal. Red Sea tanks use the same method.
Does what it claims By Patientman on 6/18/2018Patientman would recommend this product to a friendWorks with loc-line fine. Only have had it in use for about a month so hard to say if it has benefited coral growth BUT it does add random flow into my tank so figure it at least helps to eliminate "dead" spots in the tank!
Poor Quality By Logan on 6/17/2018Logan wouldn't recommend this product to a friendI ordered the 3/4" version and I'm guessing it was too large. A buddy of mine has one and he said they lock on easily, mine was not locking so I figured I needed to put some muscle into it like a normal loc-line fitting. It ended up shattering at the base. I don't know if this is a rare occurrence or what but I was very disappointed.
Running strong for a year. By Ryan S on 5/30/2018Ryan S would recommend this product to a friendI've got 8 of the 3/4" running for a year on my 300 coupled with an Abyzz on 4 and a VarioS 8 on 4. Here is what I found.
Initially was concerned about being 3D printed and breaking down after 6mo in saltwater. I was also concerned about the much smaller profile clogging.
After a year they haven't clogged once, they still work as well as ever. They snap on and off easily which I like but just firm enough to not move. I ran an experiment with several other brands and home made varieties and these are significantly smaller in size and work exceedingly well at two things... 1) random flow 2) additional water movement as a whole.
Criticism is this...
On a 6' tank the random flow works so well that current doesn't carry momentum to the opposite end so you either want a split return to both sides or leave one of the returns without to push water to that end. Also, I use to use the area below the returns in the bottom corners of the tank as a low flow area, now it seriously pulls water from the bottom of the tank. So there isn't a dead zone and I had to rethink my aquascaping. Now I love it.
Excellent Progress By lazidog on 4/25/2018lazidog would recommend this product to a friendAmazing random flow without any moving parts
BEST Randomized Flow for ANY Tank By Bubba Shinobi on 3/25/2018Bubba Shinobi would recommend this product to a friendI've been using the RFG Nozzle of over 1 year now & I love it . Its really a Must have in any Reef tank & with it's randomized Flow you won't just be shooting water out in one direction like conventional Nozzles. After I applied the RFG Nozzle to my tank, I rarely turn on my MP10 on my Nano tank anymore. Coral are happy & I was even able to crank up the return pump with the same great results.
A few issues but mostly good results By sjohnson2152 on 3/16/2018sjohnson2152 would recommend this product to a friendI have the 3/4" attachment. It does create a nice random flow as described. Mostly good but a few downsides: the fit is pretty loose for locline and if I bend it just a bit to far it comes right off, but on the plus side it goes back on real easy too. Another issue I had was getting it far enough under water. It has holes on the outside that suck in water and this creates a vortex from the surface of the water and spews out bubbles if it's too close to the surface. Also, unfortunately, I learned ornamental shrimp can get sucked into these holes on the outside too. Peppermint shrimp got his head pulled in the other night and he did not survive. I have since put a mesh cover over it to prevent anything else from getting pulled in.
