Skimz QuietPro Pumps are full feature pumps that use a brushless 6-pole synchronous motor allowing you to have full control over the flow of the pump from 100% down to 5% while remaining completely silent. The included controller has a LED display that will show you the speed mode you are on, and also the wattage being consumed.
Skimz gives you control of the pump from 5%-100% through the DC pump controller making it the perfect pump for aquarium equipment ranging from small reactors, closed loop systems and even dedicated return pumps.
Each Skimz QuietPro Pump has a slow start feature that gently ramps the pumps flow up to the desired setting over the course of a few seconds.
The pump will automatically shut off when the temperature either gets too hot, or too cold removing the possibility of the pump damaging itself.
Enter or exit feed mode with a single push of a button on the controller. QuietPro pumps have a 10-minute feed mode and will revert to the same power settings that were being used before feed mode was engaged.

Nice Small, Silent Pump By David on 5/19/2018David would recommend this product to a friendI got this pump for its small form factor, cheap price, controllability, flow rate, and because it matched sump. I have been running it for 4 months now and have not ran into any issues.
In my case, I feed sinking pellets so there is really no need to put this pump in feed mode. Once every other week I use the feed option on my Apex to perform a water changes. With this being said, my pump stays running longer and there are less on-off cycles so I have not experienced the same issues as many others have mentioned. In addition to this, I do not run this pump at its max speed. I typically run it 2 speeds below max so this may also account for this pump still running.
I plan to clean the pump around the 6 month mark to hopefully maintain efficiency and prolong the life of the pump.
As for my review:
This pump is extremely quiet. I have this pump running in a sump, under my tank, in my living area so noise was a big concern but not a deal breaker. I was surprised to find that this pump was probably the most quiet piece of equipment in my tank. I have my drain dialed in so I don’t hear any gurgling and splashing, but somehow if you listen closely all you can hear is the water falling over the weir/overflow (which is extremely quiet also). This pump is also extremely powerful for its form factor. I needed something that would fit in my ~3.5” width returns chamber and this fit the bill. I also love the fact that it is a dc pump so I can vary the speed to my liking. I’m not a huge fan of having huge amounts of water running through the sump and prefer to use powerhead for in-tank circulation. So this way I am able to reduce the speed to more closely match that of my skimmer (though I still have more of a turn-over than I need). This pump is all white so it is easy to match practically any color scheme.
At the end of the day, I am happy that the vectra could not fit in my return chamber because this pump does all that I need it to do and comes in at a much lower price range(about 1/3 the price).
Pump is Junk By Joe on 1/17/2018Joe wouldn't recommend this product to a friendLasted 18hrs in my new skimz algae reactor.. Very frusterated!
Second pump failed also. By Gahlen on 1/8/2018Gahlen wouldn't recommend this product to a friendI order two Skimz pumps within a month of each other. The first one lost power one day and would not power on after that. The power adapter was fine, the problem was the control unit. I will state that BRS customer service is totally awesome and provided me with an immediate replacement. No the second pump keeps throwing E4 error code after feed mode. This seems to be a quality issue with Skimz 2.0 pumps.
Unreliable By Paul on 12/15/2017Paul wouldn't recommend this product to a friendI have gone through two of these pumps in under 3 months, both of which experienced the same problems. The pump would fail to start up after being turned off or put into feed mode and would eventually stop working completely. This pump was a huge disappointment, definitely not a product I would recommend to anyone.
Keep dying By Justin on 11/11/2017Justin wouldn't recommend this product to a friendI have had two of these pumps stop working in 6 months. The pump seems to struggle to start up- maybe a problem with the soft start. I like to travel a lot and will not buy another pump like this in the near future and risk losing everything if i'm away for a long weekend.
Bad description By Steve on 11/1/2017Steve wouldn't recommend this product to a friendThe description states that the speed range is variable from 5-100%. That is simply untrue. The lowest setting is still about 35% of the max speed (8W of a possible max of 22W). The slow start feature uses 5% for about a millisecond when the pump starts up, but there is no conceivable way to set the pump to run at that speed. Aside from this inaccuracy in the description, the pump is well made and the controller is nicely put together. But if you were intending to set up this pump at a flow rate below 35%, look elsewhere, because that's not possible with this model.
