The JBJ Arctica Chillers incorporate some of the most advanced technological features to create a solution to stabilize water temperatures for your aquarium environment.

Arctica Features

Titanium Heat Exchanger

Exclusive titanium coil design creates maximal contact exposure.

Condenser Layout

Condenser, which is located on the front side of the chiller, draws cool air from the front and exhausts the warm air out the back. This unique placement also allows direct access to clean the condenser grill without any tools to take the chiller apart.

Energy Efficiency

Low energy consumption means lower cost. The highest BTU (British Thermal Units) heat removal capacity with the lowest AMPERAGE draw.

Fully Automated Digital Thermostat

Automatically control your temperature within +1/-1 Fahrenheit using the built-in thermostat. Includes a bright LCD that can easily be read day or night.

Least Noise and Smallest Vibration Level

You will be amazed at how uncommonly quiet this chiller is. Definitely an attractive quality for aquarists with tanks located in living rooms.

Compact Footprint

Many of the Arctica chillers are no larger than a standard desktop computer. Their compact size makes placement easy, even if you don't have a large designated area.

Side Handles

Lift and move your chiller easily using the ABS molded handles.

2 Year Warranty

Arctica Chillers are covered by a 2 year warranty, direct from the manufacturer to you.

  • Don't oversize these By Steve on 7/26/2017

While I am happy with the effectiveness of this chiller, you should be aware that oversizing it for your tank volume is not helpful. These chillers operate withing a 2 degree fluctuation cycle, meaning if you set it for 78F, it will turn on at 79F and off at 77F, approximately, depending on your calibration. An oversized chiller will run through these cycles faster than one that is smaller. Just my two cents.
  • Let down By Skyp on 8/21/2015

I had this chiller and the compressor went out after a year of use. It's a closed system so there isn't a way to charge it back up if you were able to replace the compressor.
Long story short way to expensive for 1 year of use so I'll stick to fans.
  • This Chiller is great. By James on 3/15/2014

I purchased the 1/4 HP Artica about two weeks ago. So far, it was one of the best investments I made for my 120g reef tank. It works great and I have no problem maintaining a constant temp on my tank.
  • Great Product By JeffM on 3/6/2014

My 1/4 HP Artica is going on 8 years with flawless operation. Works great and has no problem keeping my 92 gallon corner tank and 25 gallon sump just right. I'm considering plumbing mine through the wall and building a small ventilated shed outside so the heat does not warm up my house on a hot day. All-in-all a great product!
  • Works as advertised By LOUIS on 8/30/2013

I plummed it in, let the water flow, checked for leaks, no leaks. Turned it on set the temperature, and let it go. Its been running for two days with out fluctuation in temperature. My return pump is louder than the actual cooler. I really like the video demos provided for the equipment that is sold on Bulk Reef Supply, I think that's what sold me on the actual system.
  • Excellent Chiller, low noise By gchap on 6/1/2013

I have 125 Gallon display and 30 gallon sump, 8 T5's. Before I got the chiller, the display would get up to 82 - 83 Deg F. Since I installed The chiller, the display stays at 77.5 Deg.
  • excellent inline chiller By 241wrasse on 12/22/2012

75g tank + 30g sump have been running on this chiller for 2-3 years now. Rock solid, easy to setup & use. Keeps the temp steady on the system, even when running the metal halides. Avoiding parboiled livestock is critical summertimes in the desert Southwest! Well thought-out design, comes with a variety of connectors, easy to read LED temp indicator - product picture shown is with the system off.
  • Great quality chiller! By TridentSSBN on 11/23/2012

I primarily purchased this for a controller free 65 gallon setup and it worked flawlessly. Upgraded to a 150 and this thing still rocks! I have to say that I will purchase another in the future if the situation presents itself.
  • Works Great in 108 Degree Weather By Toby on 9/20/2012

I'm running a 1/4 HP on a 110g tank w/ 30g sump at 77 degrees with a RKE and temp probe for the control with a +/- 0.2 degree range. It holds the temperature steady at 77 even with an outside temperature of 108, (90+ inside).

Each time the controller turns on the chiller, the chiller has a 3 mninute start up period before the chiller begins to chill the water which helps with power spikes.
  • Great chiller By jrsevy on 8/17/2012

This things works great. The only issue is the largest barb connector supplied with this is 0.75". I run a 1" line and had to use a 1.25" rubber coupling to a 1.25" to 1" barb to attach my 1" hose. Had to stretch a short piece of tubing over the chiller nipples after Teflon taping to keep it from leaking when adding the rubber coupling. The flow seems to have doubled now, as I run my sump return line for the main 140 gallon tank circulation with a Sicce Syncra 10 pump.

I have asked the manufacturer three times what size are the nipples so I can buy the correct size female socket to 1" barb and I've gotten no answer. It is metric and probably 30mm? It's hard to find metric PVC fittings here in the US. This would be a more permanent connection. A 1" barb connection should also be supplied in the box.
  • I like it By Keep with the program dori on 7/15/2012

Want with this one due to others recommendations. Wanted quiet. And it is!
My skimmer is defiantly louder and this is outside the cabinet. When it turns on it is audible but hardly. The jbj calculator seems to be accurate to my needs.
  • low noise good temp monitor By David on 4/28/2012

I had an issue with high temps in Massachusetts - yes it does get warm - so I bought the JBJ to ensure no live stock loss. to try it out I cranked up the heater and turned down the temp - unit kicked on and did not shake rumble or hum enough to annoy the wife - this is a keeper

How are these chillers vented? Do they exhaust into the room or can you vent through an outside wall?

Great question!
These are radiant cooling and are unable to be vented to another room. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions.
