- Reefer Deluxe 250 System (54 Gal) - Red Sea
This item ships directly from Red Sea.
Red Sea Deluxe Reefer aquariums now come with Red Sea ReefLED 90 lighting along with Red Sea's RL90 mounting system all in a single package.
Deluxe Reefer 250 includes 2x Red Sea ReefLED 90 Lights
Over the past few years Red Sea has a lot of time dedicated to testing and researching LED lighting, and the culmination of those efforts led them to the ReefLED 90. Designed for optimal growth while producing great coloration with a pleasant shimmer effect. Red Sea didn't just stop with great function and form, they integrated the control of the light into the ReefBeat smart aquarium app. The ReefLED 90's built-in WiFi lets you directly connect the light to your smart device to set the daily schedule, color, intensity, and other features. Every Reefer Deluxe Aquarium Kit includes the ReefLED lights along with the appropriate amount of mounting arms.
Going from the top of the Reefer system down to the bottom, the first thing you will notice is the crystal clear glass and elegant beveled edges. The second thing you may or may not notice is the slim overflow that houses all the drain and return plumbing to keep the water a constant level within the display tank and surface skimming while being super quiet and taking up a very small amount of real estate inside of the tank. The return nozzle is fully adjustable for to direct the flow where you need it, and the dual drain system keeps overflows from making any type of noise like a single drain design may encounter. The dual drain design has one main drain that includes a diaphragm valve for easy tuning and adjustments. The other drain is completely open to flow directly down into the sump in the event that the main drain gets clogged. If plumbing is one of the reasons why you have never wanted to install a tank with a sump don’t worry as Red Sea has done all the planning for you and there is no gluing needed to assemble and seal all the plumbing.
The sump includes a filter sock holder and sock to keep large pieces of debris and detritus from clogging pumps and other pieces of equipment. The water can then flow from the filter sock into the skimmer compartment where the water will keep a steady level to aid in the best performance in your choice of skimmer or any other filtration components that you choose to include can be placed there. The water will then flow through the final bubble trap and into the final chamber where the return pump (not included) can be placed to pump water back through the Reefer tanks return plumbing.
Integrated Top Off
When water starts to evaporate all Reefer systems include an integrated top off system and reservoir that can hold a few days worth of top off water to keep the water level, salinity and flow rates consistent throughout the tank.

Beautiful system that is easy to setup By Mike on 3/9/2020Mike would recommend this product to a friendI'm very pleased with my system I received in February 2020. My previous tank had a seam suddenly fail and I wanted to get a new tank fairly quickly. I didn't have the time to plan a whole new build in such a short amount of time nor did I want to. I ended up going with the Reefer 250 because it had everything out of the box and it looked great.
Shipping was extremely fast. Ignore the reviews that give the Reefer or BRS a bad review over something they have no control over. Red Sea drops ship these directly every Friday for those who ordered by a certain time on Wednesday. My carrier called me on the following Monday to schedule delivery. Red Sea packs these very well and I had no issues with my carrier and damage, but your mileage may vary.
The stand is assembled like Ikea furniture, but constructed with higher quality materials. Putting in plumbing was pretty straight forward, but there are some times where the instructions are a little confusing. There are two sets of instructions, the assembly instructions and the product manual. Make sure to jump back and forth between the two.
The rimless aquarium looks great and the seams were very clean. All of the plumbing and the sump fit like a glove and had zero leaks or issues. The newer v3 sump design looks like an improvement over the old design. With the sump in, there is not much room for equipment, but not much that can be done here. I'm not a fan of the stock ATO. It is gravity fed with a float valve, but I could not get them to work properly together. It only holds 2.1 gallons and it also very obtrusive when trying to work in the sump. I ended up replacing it with a separate ATO reservoir which is working great. The filter socks are also not standard size, you'll have to buy the Red Sea ones for a perfect fit without any modification, .
The Reef LEDs are sleek as well and they do a pretty good job of hiding the cords. The ReefBeat app is nice and syncing the lights is quick and easy. The only downside is that to truly use the lights to their full potential, you need a smart device with internet connectivity. The offline mode is a bit limiting.
Overall, I'm extremely happy with my purchase. I've had no real issues or major complaints and everything is working great. The aquarium and stand simply look amazing together.
