Start controlling nutrients naturally and more effectively than ever before. Turbo's Aquatics sumps and Clear Water algae scrubbers come together to create a filtration powerhouse with a sump specifically designed for algae scrubbers.

Clear Water CW-200 Algae Turf Scrubber

Recommended for tanks up to 250 gallons

Algae turf scrubbers (ATS) use naturally growing algae to combat nutrients and have been used for many years now with great results. Many reefers that have been using them do not use any type of protein skimmer or expensive phosphate removal media to combat nutrients because scrubbers work very efficiently and can be added to almost any saltwater or freshwater system. As algae grows it will "lock" up nutrients in its structure and by harvesting the algae you are removing nutrients and other undesired chemicals from your tank.

The feed for the scrubber can be done with a stand-alone feed pump or manifolded from the primary return pump. Water will then flow over the algae screen that is blasted with high power red/blue LED lights that encourage algae growth and then the water will flow into the main drain fitting and back into the sump.

Maintaining the scrubber only takes a few minutes every one to three weeks to harvest the algae that has grown on the screen. Removing the horizontal union and rinsing the screen under a faucet will help knock a majority of the algae off the screen to be disposed of. Removing all the algae from the screen will lead to a slow start of the next batch and by leaving a small amount of algae on the screen you will help seed the next batch allowing it to grow faster. You may need to use a soft bristle brush (toothbrushes work great) to clean the slot that the screen fits into every now and then.

    Turbo 50 Sump

Turbo's Aquatics sumps are ready for the latest and greatest filtration tech, featuring rails designed to accept a range of waterfall-style algae scrubbers and a flexible-use media section built to accomodate standard filter socks or the Klir 4" automatic filter roller. These high-quality sumps are MADE IN THE USA using 1/4" cell cast acrylic. The side and bottom panels are clear and opaque black acrylic is used for the top and interior baffles which creates a clean, contemporary look that compliments any color scheme.

The included bracket and PVC rail system located in the center chamber supports compatible Clear Water Algae Scrubbers above the water level while still allowing enough space for a protein skimmer or additional filtration equipment.

The intake or drain chamber contains two (2) 1.5" slip bulkheads and a flexible-use media section and comes standard with a removable dual Filter Sock Tray.  The media section of the Turbo 50S Sump is compatible with the Clarisea SK-3000 and SK-5000 Automatic Filter System (requires conversion kit for the Clarisea SK series, available soon from Turbo's Aquatics).  The standard tray is compatible with standard 4" filter socks and the Klir Fleece Filter Roller.

A 1" slip bulkhead located on the return chamber is aligned to fit directly onto the EcoTech Marine Vectra L2 DC Return Pump but will also work with a wide range of additional pumps.

All models feature a probe holder with 4 ports, JG fittings for dosing lines located in the return pump chamber, the adjustable water level in the center chamber, black colored lids to prevent salt creep and bulkheads for both the drain and return pump connections.

*With scrubber installed, there is a remaining footprint of 17.5" x 6" for a protein skimmer or additional equipment of your choice. When using a protein skimmer alongside an algae scrubber, we recommend downsizing your skimmer because of the reduced nutrient levels as a result of the scrubber.
