  • Waste of Money By Mical on 7/12/2017

Don't waste your $$$. This bulky, awkward and make fish skittish seeing a large box dangling in tank. I placed one in my tank to extract a fox-face who was getting abused by a tang. fox-face both got more aggressive towards each other fighting over food in trap. Save your money buy a large net.
  • WOW By Round II on 1/20/2017

So I took the gamble of adding a pygmy Angel to my reef and he was good for about a year. One day went all rogue and started in on my SPS corals so was time to go. In short 2nd night in the tank with this trap and bingo no more angel. I would recommend this simple yet effective trap to anyone trying to rid an unwanted scoundrel from their reef!
  • Nice Trap By Bob on 12/16/2016

Awesome Coral Beauty Angel decided to dominate the tank about a week after arrival. Chasing bigger fish while the littler ones made a path for her. Abusing my Spiny Box Puffer was the name of her game. She resisted the first 3 feedings, but on the forth it worked beautifully. I moved her to a QT and returned her to my local shop for credit. All is now well. Don't know what a would have done short of removing 100+ pounds of rock to get her. Great buy.
  • Caught them all By Mofros Reef on 11/10/2016

Can't complain 1 bit... Took 10 days to get them all but it worked.
  • Worth Every Penny! By Brocnizer on 10/1/2016

The fish I wanted to catch was half the cost of this trap.It was hard for me to buy this because of that. I am so glad I did! I had a beautiful 6-line wrasse and it behaved well for a year. Then one day it turned into the tank bully. It got to the point my other 4 fish would not come out of the rocks. This trap got him, but with a little work. Follow what I did and you will have success. BTW, he was a pain in the butt to catch so if I got him you can get any fish. This guy would come up to the trap but never enter. Every other fish went in but him. But hunger will make you win this game. 1) Do not expect to catch the fish day one 2) Feed every day only into the trap and minimal food 3) I did not use the enclosed tube to hold the food but rather used tweezers to put the food though the top hole. and let it float around. this seemed to stimluate more activity. 4) let the fish get comfortable. Don't try to trap them unless they are over half way in. They will exit before the trap closes if you try too soon 5) feed at least 3 days with no trapping attempt 6) on the 4th day I guarantee you will catch the hardest fish. 7) enjoy the feeling of getting Satan out of your tank :-)
  • Large in size but works great! By Fran on 7/25/2016

I felt like the assembly took me a minute to figure out as I'm challenged and thought the directions could be slightly better. After I looked on line for a tutorial and saw how it actually worked I put it together. It is large in the tank but it caught my fish within an hour of being in there. It took a few attempts at adding food because I didn't want a whole lot floating away. Once the fish was interested... I closed the door and caught the tang (and a banghai cardinal) and moved him to QT. THe cardinal stayed inside with a little manipulation and I put him back into my display. I am super happy with the trap. If you have a lot of rock work and not much room in your tank - be careful about this particular trap. Otherwise, it is great and performed perfectly!
  • if you got to catch it, this is it. By J Crow on 4/14/2016

This trap is well built and works like a charm, i had 6 spooky fish to catch in my 75gal tank, after trying without any luck to catch even one fish I ordered this product. On the first try after only 10 min I had all 6 fish in one catch, it really works.
  • Nice Trap By GLD on 12/23/2015

Lets see.....Trap has been in the water for 3 are just now staring to go in it.......trying to catch in a 400gal. tank a 15 year old,8inch Acanthurus Lineatus that has turned into JAWS over the past few years....anyway back to the suction cups do not hold trap very securely...had to wedge in rocks.....the trap shown working on you tube must have used paid fish actors...because no one wants to go or no food....I will be patient....there has been some recent interest in the trap by the Clown Surgeon as a new home for himself.....I believe the trap will work....patience is key.........
  • Best fish trap ever By ArtC on 8/12/2015

    It works. Really, really well.
  • Great product! By Chris on 4/29/2015

I just used this to catch a bi color angel that was picking at my coral. I had to leave it in my tank for 24hrs to let the fish warm up to it. After that the bi color jumped right in to eat! worked great! I would recommend this to anyone needing to catch that problem fish.
  • Great, but not quick By Blindrage on 4/26/2015

Ich in the tank. 3 tangs, 2 Wrasse, 1 Sand Sifter, and 1 Midas Blenny in there. The tangs were a snap to catch. 2 of them on day 1, the last one in the morning of the second day. The wrasse was pretty easy the next day. It took me two more days for the sifter, and a week later I tore the rock apart to get the Blenny out since he was never going to go in the trap regardless of what bait I tried.

So overall this was great, and made it pretty easy to catch most of the fish. It does take sitting there staring at the tank, but I do that anyway.
  • Got Him! By Kevin on 4/1/2015

Needed to catch a blue hippo tang that was showing signs of ich. Tried for 3 days with nets, but my rock work is glued together so I had no luck. I ordered this, and 3 days after receiving it the fish is in the quarantine tank being treated. The first day I put the box at the bottom and left it, day 2 starting putting food inside the box and some of the fish started going in to eat (of course not the one I needed to catch), the third day instead of using the food stick, I took a medicine syringe and attached some air line tubing to it. I then sucked up some Mysis in the airline and put it in the hole on top and slowly squirted food into the box. Finally the hippo tang went in, pulled the string and he was caught. Was skeptical about this, but after using it, does what it says. Well worth it if you need to catch a fish.
