Filter bags are great for holding loose filtration media like carbon and GFO. The drawstring top lets you fill the bag through the large 6" opening, then you can seal the bag up so that the media cannot exit. The Xtend-Life bags are 300 microns which allows water to freely pass through, while detritus and large particles will be trapped by the filter bag keeping your expensive media from becoming clogged.
We recommend cleaning filter bags once every 2 weeks.

Hey there,
The micron rating refers to the measured size of the particles it is designed to strain down to, so a 200 micron filter sock will trap smaller particles down to 200 microns across.
