Does what it's supposed to do By Steve on 4/4/2019Steve would recommend this product to a friendI bought this to act as a backup for my Apex in case one of the relays on my energy bar failed open. I use my Apex to control titanium heaters without thermostats and wanted a failsafe in case my energy bar relay failed. This device works but has a couple of caveats which make it less than ideal for my situation. It has a startup delay of 10 seconds and also beeps every time the Apex turns the outlet on. Not sure if I will keep it on the tank or not. However, it's a good device. I'm probably just not using it in the manor it was designed for.
OK but turns off when temp low By CH on 1/20/2019CH would recommend this product to a friendThis is a nice unit as it gives you an alert. In one week of use it (and the skimmer monitor) have given me several false alerts) however this morning it gave me a true alert. I had just installed a new heater last night. It was an eheim 300W. For some reason, although it was plugged in, it didn't work overnight. Either way, I got an alert, but then when I tried to plug any heater into the smart temp it wouldn't work. I went back up and read that it turns itself off for any high or low temp. I guess it can't just do it for high temps which would be more ideal. At least it gave me an alert. Glad I happened to be home. If the temp does drop and this device turns off the outlet, you will want another back up heater which is what I made sure of.
Overall piece of mind By Aaron on 12/3/2018Aaron would recommend this product to a friendPicked up one of these a few months back, was piece of cake to install and didn’t take up in extra space lol. Fortunately my heater has not acted up so I haven’t had to witness it work. But I will say I sleep a little better now.
In the description it details an "alarm" in case the shut off is triggered. Is this audible, or visual?
This product will have an audible alarm that will go off if the temperature is too high or low based on the standards listed by the manufacturer. Have a great day!
