Hybrid T5 & LED
Over the past few years the battle of which is better, LED or T5 is still ongoing, and through our testing and experience combining the two technologies gives you the best of both worlds. T5 lighting is commonly used because of the wide coverage and balanced spectrum capabilities, but they do lack shimmer and the ability to fine-tune the color to what you like to see. That is why a lot of reef keepers have changed over to LED lighting, which lets you adjust almost every aspect of the light, but unless you have modules spanning your tank, shadowing and "disco ball" effects can become an issue.
ATI's Powermodule incorporates LED and T5 lighting technologies making it one of the best lighting systems for growing coral. Modern T5 bulbs designed for growing coral, like the ATI Aquablue Special and the ATI Blue Plus, emit balanced spectrums that simply work, where the LEDs let you fine-tune the overall color of the tank to your preference while giving the perfect amount of shimmer.
All new ATI Powermodule fixtures now come with built-in WiFi programming capability with Android, iOS, or Windows devices. Now there is no need to search for software or apps to control the light since the entire firmware is housed within the hardware included with the Powermodule light components. You can now download and save your favorite lighting schedules to share with a friend or the entire reefing community! If you are not a fan of wireless connections, the light also does include an Ethernet port that lets you create a wired connection.
Control the overall intensity of the LEDs and also the T5 lights. Dimmable T5 fixtures have been on the market for quite some time, but recently with advanced control software, it is now easier than ever to control the fluorescent tubes. Through the Powermodule's control interface, you can customize the instensity of not only the LEDs but the T5 lights as well.
Individual Parabolic Reflectors
Many manufacturers use a single reflector for all of the bulbs in the fixture, and when comparing them to ATI's indvidual parabolic reflectors the amount of overall light that is directed into your tank is much greater (up to 99% effeciency).

Tuning Your New LED Light
Most LED lights will actually put out more light than your corals will actually need and without a PAR Meter to test the overall output, it is really hard to guess if the light is too dim or intense. We highly suggest using a PAR Meter to test the output of your lights at different points throughout your tank that you can use to tune the lights output or know where to put specific corals.
Love it!! By Kim on 7/23/2018Kim would recommend this product to a friendI bought this 8 bulb ATI hybrid to replace a Giesemann Aurora that burned up. I must have splashed a drop of water on the top of the Aurora. I lost a fan, heat sink, LED module. In addition the electronic ballast on the T5's went out. Total black out. I loved that light too but after this mishap I thought I'd try a different design. I love the T5 dominant look of the ATI over the LED dominant light on the Aurora. I am missing the shimmer of the LED's I had on the Aurora, but I think I can achieve that when I dial up the LED modules on the ATI. Too soon to try now. This thing puts out way more light than my Aurora. More heat too. My fans run longer. The cost to run this light has to be higher as well, I just haven't gotten the bill yet to tell you how much more. I also miss the season feature on the Aurora, where the moon light automatically raises and lowers with the moon cycle. Adjusting the lights to the perfect spectrum on the Aurora was harder. You cant just turn down the reds LED's for example. The ATI has better features as far as spectrum goes. The LED channels have presets to the spectrum of their T5's bulbs. If I want a blue plus look out of the LED, I just chose that from the presets. I can change LED colors on the same LED channel throughout the day as well. Or I can make my own custom settings without the red spectrum if I want. Nice. Programing is easy. It's a much larger light than the Aurora. Cleaning would be harder if you don't have some way to move the light away from the tank. I have rails on the ceiling that I mounted the light to with a roller bar that just slides back when I need them to move. No problem if you design your set up ahead of time to accommodate the size. If I had known both lights before the purchase I think I would have gone with the ATI from the start. Not as nice looking IMO but more controllable.
