Filter bags are great for holding loose filtration media like carbon and GFO. The drawstring top lets you fill the bag through the large 4" opening, then you can seal the bag up so that the media cannot exit. The Xtend-Life bags are 300 microns which allows water to freely pass through, while detritus and large particles will be trapped by the filter bag keeping your expensive media from becoming clogged.
