so far so good By Ken on 6/8/2015Ken would recommend this product to a friendMy Nuvo is not completely set up yet...tomorrow it moves but now it has live rock and salt water in it with a heater and air...Anyhow, this new model seems beautiful, the light looks great...all looks good although I will have more to say in about a month when its been up and running and has some livestock within...
Great Tank, Light not so much By Chris on 6/4/2015Chris would recommend this product to a friendThis is a really great tank. It's worthy of 5 stars alone. It's well built, looks really sharp, and is a nice size and design for a 10 gallon tank. I've had the tank up and running now for two months and couldn't be more happier with it.
However, I'd have to give the light 2.5 stars. Now the light looks really good visually attached to the tank. But the light itself is weak and you see blue dots on the rocks & sand from the blue LEDs. The light just doesn't really mix well. And it's really too week for most corals. So if you are planning on a lot of corals and want to put what you want in the tank you're going to need to replace the light. I found the light mount to be okay and solid. It is a fine light for fish. It would be nice to be able to buy this tank without the light being included.
Now this is probably overkill, but I don't care. I just replaced my light with the EcoTech Radion XR15Pro a couple weeks ago and WoW what a difference in every way. While I have always liked the Radion light, why I really went for it over anything else was the EcoTech RMS mounting system. This mount goes right on this tank, fits perfectly, and looks great. So no hanging cables from the ceiling to mount the light over the tank. It's quick and easy and looks great.
Throw the media basket out. I never even bothered with it. Don't plan to use it.
Another upgrade I did was to replace the mesh in the screen top with the mesh that Bulk Reef sells. It's a finer transparent mesh and allows more light through and opens the top up while keeping the fish in. The mesh that comes with it is okay, looks good, but I just wanted it open more to let more light through. You don't have to do this, but it's a cheap upgrade.
Now I'm looking to upgrade the pump. Going to go with a Cobalt MJ900. I probably should have done that first. And lastly I will probably add a MP10 soon.
One last thing. When you order it, order 10lbs of BRS Reef Saver rock and ask them to pick out rocks that will work well in the tank. I couldn't be more happier with the rocks I received with the tank. They were absolutely perfect.
So if you're looking for a nice 10Gal reef tank you'll like this one.
Great tank; Poor Light & Holding Bracket and NEEDS Instant Upgrading By ezrazamir on 5/12/2015ezrazamir wouldn't recommend this product to a friendPros:
Sleek looking, sturdy construction of glass and seams. Decent pump, but not much flow in tank and any higher grade pump just blows fish and sand around.
Filtration needs instant upgrade - cheap plastic basket handle broke out of the box and had to glue it back together to use it until my upgrade media basket came.
Bracket for light snapped and light fell on top of mesh top. Good thing that was there...had to glue the bracket back together.
Light is horribly weak. Only good for softies and low dwelling LPS. Note the pictures IM show...all "low light" corals are at the TOP of the aquarium. There's a reason for that.
Recommended? Maybe, depending on your needs and budget, otherwise JBJ or Biocube are better options for Nano's.
Love it. By Logan on 4/1/2015Logan would recommend this product to a friendI have been running this tank for about 3 weeks so far. I'm moving so I'm forced to downsize and figured this would be a great tank to keep some corals from previous tanks.
When ordering the tank I went ahead and ordered a MJ900 and the spin stream. I knew i would end up wanting to upgrade anyway so went ahead with he order. I would have ordered the custom caddy but was out of stock everywhere.
I'm 100% satisfied with the tank. The silicone job is neat and clean. It is just the right size for the few corals I wanted to keep and two clowns.
The light seems to be doing great too. I have some zoas that weren't looking great in my previous tank but are fully open and happy now. My candy canes are looking great and my duncan is finally acclimated and opening. I don't think I'm going to try any acro but s small frag of Monti spongodes seems to be happy.
My only complaint but should be expected is evaporation. I'm not sure how much salinity is swinging but I'm having to replace around 200ml every day just from evaporation. I'm most likely just going to use a dosing pump to keep up. An ATO system would be a wise investment.
