Exactly as other reviews said By Reefmonger on 5/9/13
Reefmonger would recommend this product to a friendI only got 10 pounds to see how it ships and what it looks like. Also got 15 pounds of other type of rock. Pieces showed up in tack and nice hand picked pieces. Bulk reef supply definitely looked at these pieces as if selecting for their tank. -
Best rock ever By KCJ on 4/29/13
KCJ would recommend this product to a friendThe rock is very light so you only need 1/2 to 3/4lb per gallon. I have a 75gal and I ordered 60lb but only used about 40. Best rock for the money and the look out there. -
Nice By John on 4/26/13

Great Rock By Daniel on 4/24/13
Daniel would recommend this product to a friendWas concerned about purchasing rock online without hand selecting the pieces myself. Very pleased with what I received. All great pieces - all intact. Think I actually received a few extra lbs but your results may vary. Very satisfied. -
Beautiful By Adam on 4/22/13
Adam would recommend this product to a friendI've had 70 lbs in a Rubbermaid bin cycling for 4 months. I've read several threads about this rock leaching phosphates but patience should overcome that. Worth it for sure. -
Fantastic! By BRS FAN! on 4/17/13
BRS FAN! would recommend this product to a friendOrdered 50 lbs., asked for a mixture of sizes. What I received was so far above my expectations. I am now a BRS customer for life. Whoever BRS has assigned to select rock for customers needs a raise, because you my friend, ROCK! No pun intended. Love the rock, just go ahead and buy it if you are on the fence... you won't be let down, I assure it. -

Great looking rock, but lots of die off By COLE on 4/13/13
COLE would recommend this product to a friendProbably the best looking rock you can buy, and as the other reviews state it is very porous and light. But it does have quite a lot of die off. -

The piece of rock that I received was a better specimen that what I had hoped for. These guys don’t mess around. How much would yo add to a 75 gal. aquarium?
Bulk Reef Supply Hey Rita,
For a middle of the road aquascape I would suggest picking up about 1lb per gallon. It never hurts to order a little extra though, it can be really handy to have extra pieces to choose from when your finishing your aquascape. If you end up with extra you can always put them in the sump or break them up and use them as frag plugs, etc. -

Hi guys, love the site! I'm interested in the Pukani rock, but what is the rule of thumb when starting a tank from scratch? Since this is dry rock, and very porous, what would you recommend for a 180 gallon reef tank?
Also, do you sell dry sand in bulk?
Thanks!
ScottBulk Reef Supply Hey Scott,
Great question. I would say as a rule of thumb your shooting for right about 1lb per gallon of water for a nice middle of the road aquascape. Certainly if you like a ton of rock or a little rock feel free to adjust from there :-)
We don't currently sell bulk sand, but we do carry a variety of different types with sizes ranging from 5 to 40lbs:

I am getting a new tank. do I still have to cure this (pukani dry rock) since I am starting out new?
Bulk Reef Supply Hey Trent,
Any tank and rock will need to by cycled but on a new tank its not an issue at all to do that all together in the tank at once before adding live stock.
BRS Pukani Dry Aquarium Live Rock - our lightest and most porous and full of holes that become nice homes and passage ways for your tank's inhabitants. Like all of our dry rock, Pukani is free of nuisance algae and pests which can cause complete tank shut downs. It is guaranteed to be free of apitasia, bubble algae, parasitic isopods, mantis shrimp, acro eating flat worms, little red bugs, fire worms, predatory nudibranchs, pyramidellid snails and other common pests.
Using Dry Rock has the following advantages:
- Low initial cost on premium types of rock.
- Pound for pound a way better value - no water weight.
- Can be shipped standard UPS ground which saves a fortune on shipping.
- Absolutely pest free. This is the most important reason. This allows you to completely avoid all of the most common aquarium pests that plague most aquarists.
NOTE: This rock does come out of the ocean and may have some dead material on it such as sponges or other critters. We strongly suggest soaking or curing the rock before use in an active aquarium.
Dry live rock is not available for shipment to Canada due to high tariffs. Please consider Reef Saver rock as it is not subject to these fees and is our favorite of the dry rocks available.
