high quality By dnote on 3/7/14dnote would recommend this product to a friendVery nice rock. It definitely has some dead sponges and whatnot in it, but by curing for a while or giving it an acid bath, the rock is good to go. Nice and porous with great shapes
good pieces By ryan on 3/3/14ryan would recommend this product to a friendgood size pieces
Couldn't be happier By Trainwreck618 on 3/2/14Trainwreck618 would recommend this product to a friendAs I stated in an earlier review I just ordered 100lbs of this rock, and it arrived on time and undamaged! This is my second time ordering the pukani and I am not the least bit disappointed. Nice varying sizes and shapes from small to large, which i had requested, and these boxes most definitely weighed over 100lbs! I knew I wouldn't be disappointed the guys at BRS really came through again.
Amazing Dry Rock [Video] By Adam on 2/21/14Adam would recommend this product to a friendThis stuff was amazing. Super porous and easy to manipulate into the desired shapes. Here is a video of my 15lb order.
Great rock! By Trainwreck618 on 2/17/14Trainwreck618 would recommend this product to a friendI bought a big 30lb pukani rock a year ago and hollowed out the center to make a cave! This rock is really unique, I just ordered 100 more pounds of it for a new build I am starting. Don't be fooled, a little goes a long way with this stuff, it's not as dense as some of the other rock you can buy.
Great Rock By madhu on 2/14/14madhu would recommend this product to a friendI ordered 15 lbs of pukani rock and one large beautiful piece that weighed 16 lbs came and it is an awesome piece. Looks just like the photo and has lot of crevices and Looks so natural and beautiful. I also bought Tonga complex Multibranch from BRS and they sent me terrible single cylinder ones. AIso I bought 20 lbs 20" tonga and they sent me 4 cylinder pieces. Really? I really would like to return them but the disadvantage of buying online is that it may be difficult to return. I'm not putting that tonga in my tank for sure. So don't buy tonga or any other rock since it may be a hit or miss, but buy pukani
best rock I've ever seen By oshi on 2/14/14oshi would recommend this product to a friendBought 40 pounds, I'd say 80% of that was 2 giant rocks, 1 was about 1 cubic foot. AMAZING shapes, beautiful rock, probably the best looking rock I have ever seen.
Can't wait for it to color up and populate from some LR seeds.
Great Looking Rock By Jason on 2/7/14Jason would recommend this product to a friendThis is great looking and unique rock that is lightweight. Great way to aquascape your tank, I took out some pieces i didn't like of my existing rock work and replaced it with this.
This is awsome rock!! By Redfish on 2/5/14Redfish would recommend this product to a friendI bought this rock for a new 120 reef setup and the look of this stuff is awsome. It has so many holes in it as well.
Awesome Rock By Jonathan on 2/4/14Jonathan would recommend this product to a friendThis rock is so light and porous! I wish I had bought it when I first started reefkeeping. The pieces were very well packed, I didnt have but a couple of small fragments that broke off of corners during transit. I was happy to find several of the pieces to be quite large, and it looks great in my display. I will probably order more soon!
Nice shapes, large pieces but takes some work By cee on 1/30/14cee would recommend this product to a friendThe rock is fairly clean but expect some dead matter. It does leach phosphate so it needs some preparation before adding it to a tank. I acid washed and then used lanthanum chloride to precipitate out the phosphate but it does take a few weeks. It is large for its weight and comes in nice "inverted pyramid" shapes.
Very light By garrett on 1/23/14garrett would recommend this product to a friendThe rock was a lot bigger than I imagined, it came in two large chunks and a few smaller pieces. The rock was pretty clean for the most part, overall I'm very happy with the rock, I wish I would have bought this rock from the beginning I would have saved a ton!

question about the pukani rock. how many pounds is one rock
Bulk Reef Supply Hi Dana,
No two rocks are the same but a football size piece will generally be right in the ball park of 7-8lbs or so.
by dana on November 24, 2013, @8:05 PM
The 20+" pukani. Are they all about 20+" or are some bigger. The rocks smaller than 20". Would I expect to get rocks as small as 5 inches. Or are they just under 20". Will I get a variation of sizes.
Bulk Reef Supply Hi Dana,
The 20" + pukani is rocks that have a dimension that is 20" and bigger. They can get much larger then 20". Rocks that aren't 20" or bigger would all have dimensions that are smaller then 20".

Hello, if I was to buy dry rock and put in qty of 15 would I get 15 rocks or 15 pounds?
Bulk Reef Supply Hi Jon,
All of the rock is sold by the pound. If you order a quantity of 15lbs you would receive 15lbs of rock.

How many pounds would I need for a reef tank with dimensions of 36x17x25 approx 65 gallons? Thanks, Eric.
Bulk Reef Supply Hey Eric,
For a nice middle of the road aquascape, 1lb per gallon is a good ballpark value (so 65lbs). Never hurts to have some extra though, helps with aquascaping when you have more rocks to chose from and if you end up with extra's you can always throw them in the sump, break them up to use as frag plugs, etc.
BRS Pukani Dry Aquarium Live Rock - our lightest and most porous and full of holes that become nice homes and passage ways for your tank's inhabitants. Like all of our dry rock, Pukani is free of nuisance algae and pests which can cause complete tank shut downs. It is guaranteed to be free of apitasia, bubble algae, parasitic isopods, mantis shrimp, acro eating flat worms, little red bugs, fire worms, predatory nudibranchs, pyramidellid snails and other common pests.
Using Dry Rock has the following advantages:
- Low initial cost on premium types of rock.
- Pound for pound a way better value - no water weight.
- Can be shipped standard UPS ground which saves a fortune on shipping.
- Absolutely pest free. This is the most important reason. This allows you to completely avoid all of the most common aquarium pests that plague most aquarists.
NOTE: This rock does come out of the ocean and may have some dead material on it such as sponges or other critters. We strongly suggest soaking or curing the rock before use in an active aquarium.
Dry live rock is not available for shipment to Canada due to high tariffs. Please consider Reef Saver rock as it is not subject to these fees and is our favorite of the dry rocks available.
