Product Questions

What is the minimum water level to function this skimmer?
Question by: Edwin on Nov 14, 2016 3:53:00 PM
Hey there, thanks for reaching out to us! It does come preset to optimal water level, but also includes an adjustable venturi valve for you to dial it in for your specific aquarium. The exact water level and precise adjustment will be dependent on each individual aquarium and its bioload. :-)

Please check out page 17 in the manufacturer's manual below. :-)

What skimmer will fit the first generation Nano 16?
Question by: John Turner on May 30, 2016 7:46:00 AM
Great question!
With the first generation you will need to check the compartment space available. The Ghost skimmer desktop can work on newer models but not he first generation. This unfortunately is the smallest skimmer available which could fit.

Hi,

Will the mid-side (#7204) skimmer fit in the discontinued IM Nuvo Nano 24 gallon tank?

Thanks!
Question by: Caroline on Jan 22, 2016 5:37:00 PM
Great question!
The mid size would be too large unfortunately. The Desktop Skimmer would be able to fit however. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!
Answer by: Connor (Admin) on Jan 28, 2016 3:33:00 PM
Is it possible to buy an impeller for the desktop skimmer?
Question by: Daren Smith on Feb 4, 2016 1:19:00 PM
Great question!
We do not currently have replacement parts available however they may be an option through Innovative Marine directly.

Would this fit into a biocube 14?
Question by: Andrew Willis on Jun 17, 2014 8:11:00 AM
Hi Andrew,
Do you have a chamber on your 14g biocube that is bigger then the dimensions of the skimmer (3.58" x 2.28" x 9.84") ? If so then you should be just fine.

  • Good skimmer, but loid By YodaHart on 5/1/2017

I have had this skimmer for over a year on an IM 20. It skims well, but it very loud. My tank is about 5 feet from my desk and I have to turn off the skimmer during working hours because it is too loud.
  • Great skimmer for IM 25 lagoon By joey on 3/23/2017

This skimmer works great for me no issues with bubbles after couple days break in period. Easily adjustable for wet or dry skim.
  • Excellent Skimmer By Sherry on 2/18/2017

This is a great skimmer. Had some micro bubbles at first but that goes away. It is pulling out a great deal of "gunk" out of a pristine tank. a GREAT skimmer. Just use it properly and you won't be a bit disappointed.
  • Bubble City By nuvo20 on 2/17/2017

I've tried every way to break this skimmer in that I can think of and had no luck. It constantly floods the main tank with micro bubbles and when it does skim it fills the cup with mostly water. I have taken it completely out and am just doing water changes until I can fins a skimmer that fits my 20 and works like it should.
  • Just can't ever dial it in the proper way! By FLSharkvictim on 1/13/2017

After 4 months of breaking this in it's almost impossible to dial this skimmer in without it Overflowing the water in the little cup that comes with this. I'm sure there are better nano skimmers on the Market then this one. Save your money and go a different route since the price tag does not fit the product. I use a lot of IM products and I love them all except the ghost skimmer. Don't get me wrong it works but you're constantly trying to dial it in due to the fact your Overflow cup is alway full of clear water. I would go a different route for a Nano skimmer like the new Skimz Nano, or the Eshoops Nano..
  • Good fit and finish, moderatley quiet By David on 12/4/2016

I received this item ~2 weeks ago for my Innovative Marine Nuvo Nano Fusion 20. It fits well and seems to be made well from the looks of it. I am still breaking in the unit as it has only been in use for 3-4 days so take my Pro's/Cons below with that in mind:

    Pros:
Made to fit Nuvo Nano aquarium's well
Decently quiet, varies depending on the height of the cup
    Good Materials
    Pump isn't overly noisy.
Easy to adjust the skim cup and the air inlet
Hides away well in the back of the Nuvo tank.

    Cons:
Creates some unusual flow in the sump over the overflow on one side which tends to make a bit of noise. I'm still working to mitigate this.
At first, there were hardly any micro-bubbles in the tank, then a couple days later there were A LOT of micro bubbles. I pulled it out of the tank and I'm now breaking in the skimmer in a bucket with water form my last water change. I hope this helps.
Doing weekly water changes will probably prevent the need for this skimmer altogether in a Nano tank.
  • IM - Ghost Skimmer By FLSharkvictim on 4/24/2016

Still breaking it in but it seems work pretty decent for such a small skimmer.
  • Excellent By KEVIN on 2/25/2016

Broke in within a week. Dead silent. No micro bubbles in the display after 4 days
  • Great skimmer By Jurgen on 1/29/2016

Fits nicely on my 10 gallon nuvo fusion and skims great. It's also pretty easy to adjust.
  • Micro Bubbles are out of control By jeff on 9/19/2015

I have tried for months to fine tune this thing to both skim and not produce micro bubbles. Its very well built but clearly has a flawed design.
  • Bite my tongue By Sean on 3/23/2015

I guess the skimmer herd me talking bad about it. Starting working great this week end and no more micro bubbles... Working amazing. If your having problems with bubbles just wait it out.
  • Micro Bubbles/Noisy By Matthew on 3/7/2015

Bought one of these about 6 weeks ago. First off, the micro bubbles seem impossible to control, but after the six weeks, they have seemed to slow down with the help of some filter floss in the return area. Also, playing around with the cup level/air Venturi for weeks on end, I finally found the sweet spot. Still have a few micro bubbles. Also, the noise production out of this thing is incredible. With the stock return pump that IM provides, expect this beast to be about 5x as loud.
