Today on BRStv, we have a brand new episode of our series, BRStv Investigates. In this series, we explore popular reefing theories, products, methods, and what the manuals are missing, with a focus on putting them to the test! The light over your reef tank is the number one nutrient source for your corals, without light, corals would just not survive. When it comes to lighting, there are so many options between the tried and true metal halide or T5 but in the past few years, LEDs have been starting to become present over a majority of aquariums. With the three different technologies choosing the correct light for your tank could be difficult. We start taking a look at the three most important factors when selecting a light source; which light provides the corals with the right spectrum and intensity. The second factor is which light just makes your corals look awesome. Since your tank is there to be looked at, no one wants to look at a tank with corals that just look dull and boring. The third deciding factor should be the available features, and what is important to you. From mounting options and the way it is controlled does come into play when choosing a light but with today’s choices, picking a light should be done in that particular order. Be sure to watch as we start the endeavor on testing different types of light and how they stack up against each other, and possibly how to mimic other technologies. *Legal Stuff* The purpose and content of this video is to provide general information regarding the products and their applications as presented in the video.
