Product Questions

can more then one string of LED's be connected to one module?
Question by: Chris on Jan 2, 2014 6:19:00 AM
Hi Chris,
It can be used with a single string of LED's. If you want more LED"s you just use an LED string that has more LED's on it.
Answer by: Bulk Reef Supply on Jan 2, 2014 6:19:00 AM
With these lunar lights, will I need a certain module to connect this to the apex or will there be a connection on the actual apex box? Currently have an apex but won't be set up for a couple weeks so I am not too familiar with the apex connections. Thanks guys!
Question by: Mike on Aug 9, 2016 9:45:00 AM
Great question! You will need the Lunar Simulator LED Module for these LED lights on the Apex. Here is the link for that module. :-)
Answer by: Randy (Admin) on Aug 11, 2016 10:06:00 PM
Can you split one module between two strings? I have two tanks and they run on the same Apex system. Also need to extend the leader longer than 70". Is there an extension for these?
Question by: Jeff on Apr 13, 2016 11:25:00 PM
Great question!
Each module will only have the option for one input for a single string. We do not carry a direct extension for the Lunar cable however since you will need 2 modules you can use a longer aquabus cable to handle the length. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!

It says "to create a true lunar cycle to your reef aquarium." does that mean it will match what is going on outside with the moon? What I mean is can I set it to be a full moon when it is actually a full moon but without having to go in and adjust it. I am looking for something that can be programed to match for a year and then I dont have to touch it. Does this have that capability?
Question by: Alex De Michieli on Apr 29, 2016 4:10:00 PM
Great question!
It can be programmed to run the lunar cycle with the different phases of the moon. This can be programmed to run in accordance what the actual moon outside is currently at. This will not need to be touched after the initial programming is set.

Are these lights compatible with other controllers like the Vertex Cerebra or Reefkeeper?
Question by: Billy Danz on Jul 3, 2016 7:07:00 PM
These are not designed to be controller with other units. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions.

How many leds is recommended for a 4 foot tank? I know youve said theyre 24 inches apart, but do people usually place them closer together?
Question by: Joe on May 12, 2016 4:53:00 PM
Great question!
It is up to how much light, we would ideally recommend three to 4 total, not more than 4 LED's. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!
Answer by: Connor (Admin) on May 17, 2016 5:21:00 PM
What are the lengths of each of the available light strings; 2, 3, 4 & 5 bulb strings? And how long is the leader wire that goes to the LSM module? I would be mounting the LSM in the aquarium stand and meed at least a 5 foot leader wire (36" from stand to tank top and another 24" from the canopy back to bulb mounting location.
Question by: Raymond Sugel Sr on Apr 3, 2016 2:19:00 PM
Great question!
1. The distance between the lunar lights is approximately 24" apart
2. The length of the leader wire is 70"
3. Yes you can setup ramp profiles to have the intensity ramp up & down and you can use if time to turn on/off the different profiles. You can also use the Wizard in fusion to ramp up and down the lights.
Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!

On a 2 string led, How long is the wire to the first led? How long is the wire from the first led to the second led? Thank you in advance just wanna make sure it will reach from my controller location to the canopy.
Question by: Thomas on Mar 23, 2017 12:50:00 AM
Hey there,
The distance of the lead wire is about 70", and the distance between each LED is approximately 24".

Have a great day!

I have a Kessil A360 on a gooseneck. What options are there for mounting these LEDs on a rimless tank without a hood?
Question by: Chilly on Apr 20, 2016 10:46:00 AM
Great question!
These will need to mount to a surface with screws and would require some type of hood or canopy to mount to.
Answer by: Connor (Admin) on Apr 26, 2016 1:36:00 PM
Can the brightness be set on these like a radion etc or is it just on and off or follow given program.
Question by: BJ on Aug 16, 2016 1:31:00 PM
Great question! You can adjust the intensity of these from 0%-100%. :-)
Answer by: Randy (Admin) on Aug 16, 2016 6:15:00 PM

Question by: Ben on May 17, 2016 3:16:00 PM
Great question!

  • Good night light By Lawrence on 11/28/2016

needs a longer lead or better yet it needs a ex extension
  • Nice leds little expensive. By RJ on 7/29/2016

Nice leds, its true 3 leds do a 6 foot tank just great. Literally plug and play. Cord is a little short had to buy an extension. It is disappointing there is no hanging hardware. So be prepared to have some double sided tape or screws... Etc.

Overall. I'd probably buy again at this point. Perfect for viewing tank at night
  • It's cool.... By Patrick on 7/15/2015

I am not trying to get corals to breed or lay eggs. I just wanted something to light up the tank at night so I can see the critters that come out then. It is tied to the lunar calendar and it follows the cycles of the moon so some nights it is super bright others it is pretty dim. It is pretty darn cool even though it is pretty unnecessary. I am really glad I got it so I can see the corals at night. They are very bright I have 3 over a 100 gallon tank 4 feet by 2 feet. Anymore and I think it would be too much and not give that cool moon glow.
  • great By andrewnemeth3 on 6/4/2015

Awesome lights great look to them
  • Easy By Andrewnemeth3 on 6/4/2015

Cant get any easier that this product. Full plug and play and with the lighting wizard there is no programming.
  • Plug and Play By Thomas on 4/6/2015

i recently reprogrammed my Apex controller to simulate the actual timing of sunrise/sunset via the "If SUN" command. In doing so, I thought, well if I replicate the du 's cycle, why not the moon as well!

Fast forward to the arrival of my LSM module and two-string (LED) moonlights.

You might be asking yourself, "is it difficult to install/program?" The answer is: Nope! The product is as described in my subject line i.e. Plug & Play. The Apex unit does all the heavy lifting for you! My moonlights were up and running in no time flat thanks to the awesome design of Neptune's Apex controller.
  • Great looking moon lights By Ray on 1/30/2015

Easy to setup. Plug in, Apex will add the program for you. The color on the lights is great. The only problem is that I would like more wire between the bulbs. It works great in a hood, but if you are using any kind of gooseneck mount, you will end up with a wire draped from one gooseneck to the other. Great system other than that.
  • easy By ward on 12/23/2014

Pretty cool. Just plug it in and the system recognizes it. I use the default program they have on it and have found no need to change it.
  • Great lights By Mark on 11/21/2014

I use the three light one over my 180 and it is strong enough that it lights up the tank very well.
  • Beautiful By Christian on 9/26/2014

Have mine set to follow the season table, but also falls back to 1% when all other lighting is off. Tank is in the study off our master bedroom, and the light dims low enough as not to disturb the wife at night. With Apex, you have full control of how the LSM performs. Great product!
  • Would recomended By Mark on 9/17/2014

I got the 3 led for my 180 gallon tank and it is perfect. Lights up the tank nicely .
  • Good but not the Best Apex Component By Greg on 8/11/2014

While the unit is simple and easy to set up. The light strings could be better. Having a form of modularity would really have helped as the strings aren't one size fits all. I bought a two light string as it was the recommended for a 48" tank. With my Kessil pendants I've had issues placing the moonlights in a way that gives perfect coverage. Also a disconnect near the hood would have been nice as to remove the hood you have to remove the lights first. I'm sure I can rig something over time but these seem to be low hanging fruit options.
