Product Questions

Can you tell me the GourmetDefroster's dimensions? Many thanks!
Question by: Jeff on Jun 11, 2015 12:27:00 PM
Great Question!
The height is 4", the diameter of the defroster is 2.5" and the diameter with the small magnetic stand will increase the size to 3".

Up to what size glass will this work with?
Question by: SaltyReefTV on Jun 11, 2015 1:00:00 PM
Great Question,
This defroster will work well on even the largest tanks, Innovative Marine has recommended its use on tanks at least up to 15 mm or .59"
Answer by: Connor (Admin) on Jun 11, 2015 4:19:00 PM
Would it be a problem to leave this in the tank?
Question by: Evan Chandlee on Apr 21, 2016 7:55:00 PM
Great question!
We leave ours in the tank all the time! We do take it out and clean it quite often as a result. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!

Full Details

Just drop a cube and go, and let this 3-in-1, magnet-mounted defroster thaw, separate, and dispense frozen food all by itself! Its open/close pivoting design gives you an adjustable release setting that allows for portion control and the ability to regulate the amount of food that is released into your tank. This keeps more food in their mouths, and less in your filter.

  • Reef safe magnetic mounting
  • Reduces wasted food
  • Use with any type or brand of fish food
  • Adjustable settings for food separation and dispersion
  • Easy to Clean

  • Great concept, bad execution By William on 4/19/2017

If the magnets would last a little longer than about 6 months these things would be great. Water seeps in to the housing that holds the magnet into the mounting ring and the magnet rusts and falls apart.
  • Magnet rusted By donut on 3/10/2017

I had this thing for a few months and everything was great. Instead of waiting for the food to thaw and then feeding I just throw the food in the tank and thaw and feed at the same time. Come back to the tank in 30-40min and take the feeder out. I never left it in the tank for more then an hour but after 3 or 4 months of owning it I noticed the magnet on the cup was rusted bad and falling apart in shreds. I don't want that stuff in
my tank. Why didn't they seal the magnet? It doesn't seem like that would be to hard to do. Big waste of money.
  • Works amazing! By FLSharkvictim on 1/13/2017

I love this little gadget by IM! I just dropped a cube of my PEMysis and walk away. Another positive is you can set it for how much food you want to discharge by twisting the gadget so all the food does not go down into your Overflow boxes. My fish go crazy as soon as I drop this Gourmet Defroster in my display. One last thing the magnet is SUPER Strong FYI... I give this product 5 stars across the board and would HIGHLY recommend it to anyone the feed there fish frozen foods.
  • work great By Rocket man on 12/20/2016

I'm very happy with mine, it was a much needed tool as I had just gotten a Juvi angel, he was having a tough time fighting with the aggressive tangs and wrasses, I got this just in time, now when he sees me he swims up and waits there, he's figured out how to get his food without fighting. this would be good for the timid copperbands too!
  • Perfect By Lowell on 11/26/2016

Excellent product. Once I found the right placement so there was some water flow directed towards the upper holes, it worked perfectly. The fish went to it right away.
  • Innovative Marine--Awesome Customer Service/warranty By Robert on 11/17/2016

I am editing my poor review for this product. After corresponding with Innovative Marine about my broken/dropped feeder, Candi contacted me immediately and set up a process to get it replaced. I have a UPS tracking number that was sent to me today for the replacement. This company ROCKS!!!
  • accidentally dropped it By Robert on 10/30/2016

Broke (plastic magnetic piece)as soon as it hit hardwood floor.......too expensive for an accident like this to break that easily.....
  • ring broke when first attached. By Stephen on 8/14/2016

The middle ring with the magnet attached cracked when I first tried to mount the unit in the tank. It is not thick enough. The magnet is very strong and the shear force cracked it. I tried gluing it back but it won't hold-- and Innovative should replace it anyway. My concern is the replacement will do the same thing-- it's a design flaw.
  • Bad magnet By babybull on 8/13/2016

Magnet on inside of tank must not have been sealed. It swelled up and rounded the end. Won't keep tight on glass. Looked at it closer and it was rusted. Haven't had it a year and didn't use it that much. Never left in the tank for more than a few days at a time. Not a good buy for the price.
  • Really cheaply built By RJ on 8/12/2016

On first use, the blue ring snapped at the magnet, so although I could glue it, water is getting into the magnet holder, and the two clear cups won't stay in place.
  • Everythig I thought and more! By Kris on 6/2/2016

I use this in my freshwater tank and love it. My rainbows took to it right away and some of the slower dither fish can even get in on the action. Beats throwing a cube of bloodworms in and one or two fish taking the whole cube. Now everyone gets their fair share.
  • Works as advertised By Rob on 5/25/2016

You have to remember to adjust the center holes before placing in the tank. Frozen cubes melt and get dispersed in the tank. The more aggressive fish tend to get to the food while it defrosts.
