The height is 4", the diameter of the defroster is 2.5" and the diameter with the small magnetic stand will increase the size to 3".
This defroster will work well on even the largest tanks, Innovative Marine has recommended its use on tanks at least up to 15 mm or .59"
We leave ours in the tank all the time! We do take it out and clean it quite often as a result. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!
Just drop a cube and go, and let this 3-in-1, magnet-mounted defroster thaw, separate, and dispense frozen food all by itself! Its open/close pivoting design gives you an adjustable release setting that allows for portion control and the ability to regulate the amount of food that is released into your tank. This keeps more food in their mouths, and less in your filter.
- Reef safe magnetic mounting
- Reduces wasted food
- Use with any type or brand of fish food
- Adjustable settings for food separation and dispersion
- Easy to Clean
Perfect By Lowell on 11/26/2016Lowell would recommend this product to a friendExcellent product. Once I found the right placement so there was some water flow directed towards the upper holes, it worked perfectly. The fish went to it right away.
Innovative Marine--Awesome Customer Service/warranty By Robert on 11/17/2016Robert would recommend this product to a friendI am editing my poor review for this product. After corresponding with Innovative Marine about my broken/dropped feeder, Candi contacted me immediately and set up a process to get it replaced. I have a UPS tracking number that was sent to me today for the replacement. This company ROCKS!!!
accidentally dropped it By Robert on 10/30/2016Robert wouldn't recommend this product to a friendBroke (plastic magnetic piece)as soon as it hit hardwood floor.......too expensive for an accident like this to break that easily.....
ring broke when first attached. By Stephen on 8/14/2016Stephen wouldn't recommend this product to a friendThe middle ring with the magnet attached cracked when I first tried to mount the unit in the tank. It is not thick enough. The magnet is very strong and the shear force cracked it. I tried gluing it back but it won't hold-- and Innovative should replace it anyway. My concern is the replacement will do the same thing-- it's a design flaw.
Bad magnet By babybull on 8/13/2016babybull wouldn't recommend this product to a friendMagnet on inside of tank must not have been sealed. It swelled up and rounded the end. Won't keep tight on glass. Looked at it closer and it was rusted. Haven't had it a year and didn't use it that much. Never left in the tank for more than a few days at a time. Not a good buy for the price.
Really cheaply built By RJ on 8/12/2016RJ wouldn't recommend this product to a friendOn first use, the blue ring snapped at the magnet, so although I could glue it, water is getting into the magnet holder, and the two clear cups won't stay in place.
Everythig I thought and more! By Kris on 6/2/2016Kris would recommend this product to a friendI use this in my freshwater tank and love it. My rainbows took to it right away and some of the slower dither fish can even get in on the action. Beats throwing a cube of bloodworms in and one or two fish taking the whole cube. Now everyone gets their fair share.
Works as advertised By Rob on 5/25/2016Rob would recommend this product to a friendYou have to remember to adjust the center holes before placing in the tank. Frozen cubes melt and get dispersed in the tank. The more aggressive fish tend to get to the food while it defrosts.
Has its purposes, but... By amccann1 on 4/6/2016amccann1 would recommend this product to a friendI like how nicely made it is, feels high quality, not cheap plastic. The magnet is VERY strong, so be careful when putting it on. Works great for feeding most foods, but where it has struggled is with Rod's Foods, I use the original blend about twice a week. The larger pieces will get stuck in there. Works great for mysis, pellets and flakes. One complain I have about it, the two clear plastic circles, while they seal on there, they are still rather lose. If you go to pick it up by those, it almost always fall apart on me. I've had to fish it out of the bottom of my 24" deep tank several times because of this. Some people will just leave it there permanently, but I don't like having things sticking on the sides of my tank all day long. Nice product, 25 bucks is kinda steep, especially factoring in shipping.
Perfect By Oryo on 4/3/2016Oryo would recommend this product to a friendI bought this a few months back & LOVE it! I drop a half frozen cube & in about 1 minute its thawed out and releases the brine shrimp little by little. I have 2 clown fishes that are up inside eating what they can but food does make it's way to the tank for the other fishes can enjoy. I leave mine set up inside and it's not an eyesore.
I originally bought it so my wife can feed the fishes while I'm at work. In past she would melt the half cube & pour it in with most of it going into the filter system. Not having that problem anymore!
Works as advertised but does have a downside By James on 3/28/2016James would recommend this product to a friendThis does do exactly what it was designed to do and slowly releases the food. The issue I see in my tank is that shy / less aggressive fish will never get to eat. I've got a pair of banggai cardinals and several blue gudgeon gobies that never got a piece of food at all. All the other more aggressive fish stayed right at the feeder and gobbled every piece as it floated out.
Doesnt work By Sidsreef on 3/26/2016Sidsreef wouldn't recommend this product to a friendI had this on my 100 gallon tank and all the food got stuck or would either float to the top and stay or get caught up in the adjustable holes. and it always resulted in me pulling it apart.
