Ask a question
The uniseals are made to work with pipe. The diameter of the pipe pushes out and is what seals against the walls of the uniseal. A flexible tube would most likely leak.
When it comes to PVC the best thing to do is take your tape measure and throw it away. PVC is nominal sizing and just because it says its ¾” you most likely will not find an exact ¾” dimension anywhere on the pipe. If your PVC is ¾” you will want to use a ¾” Uniseal, along with all other fittings and valves.
We do not recommend using a uniseal on anything wider than 1/4-5/16". Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!
If so, what diameter pipe for a 1 inch uniseal
Yes. All plumbing is sized with nominal plumbing sizes which takes into account the correct size fittings for the pipe regardless of whether they are sch40, 80, etc. For a 1" pipe you would want a 1" uniseal.
In the past I have actually just used water or saliva but many people recommend things like silicone o-ring lubricant, non-ammonia windex and vegetable oil. Just give the container a good rinse after everything is installed and you should be good to go!
Hope this helps!
Have a great day :)
That is just fine. Just be careful removing it to not rip or tear on the uniseal and you will be just fine.
Uniseal Installation Instructions
- Cut hole to the hole saw size indicated for the Uniseal below.
- Ensure that the hole is clean with no sharp edges. Irregularities can cause a poor seal and leaks.
- Insert the Uniseal into the hole with the wide flange on the outside of the container.
- Ensure the pipe end that will be inserted is clean of burs or sharp points. File the edges if needed.
- Insert the pipe into the Uniseal. You can lubricate the pipe end with Windex. Most of it will be squeezed off during installation but be sure to wash thoroughly before turning on your system.

Works after a lot of work By Lance A. Lot on 10/10/2016Lance A. Lot would recommend this product to a friendSeals well on curved surfaces but they can be a bit difficult to install. Boil/ heat the seals and make sure the hole has no burrs. A little silicone based grease helps get the pipes through without destroying the seal. If the hole isn't big enough you may destroy the seal trying to force the pipe through.
Nice option for most applications By JRB on 10/8/2016JRB would recommend this product to a friendThese work very well. However, you must be careful how you prepare the hole. A good, true hole saw is useful. Cheaper ones can have bent teeth that will cut an oversized hole. Likewise, be careful not to enlarge the hole during your cleaning up (sanding) of the burrs.

You can find them for less money, but BRS ships fast and is convenient.
hole size must be exact By David on 9/15/2014David would recommend this product to a friendused spade bit on a 20g brute but hole was a hair too big, knew as soon as I put uniseal in that it would never hold and it didn't. Might try with another style bit sometime.

Works Great for 200G Saltwater Mixing Station By Kyevey on 3/5/2014Kyevey would recommend this product to a friendI bought 4 of the 1" Uniseal.
Had no issue with the installation. Seal fit snug prior to inserting the PVC. Once the 1" PVC was added it was a perfect seal, no leaks...
I've been using with high power Iwaki pump which creates a bit of vibration with the PVC and the Uniseals absorbs the vibrations much better than any Bulkhead could!
