Quick Overview

Why does BRS recommend this?

The Syncra Silent line of pumps come in many different sizes and will fit most tank needs.  Sicce uses high quality magnets in their pumps, which allows them to spin smoother with less noise than almost all other pumps in their price category.  If your tank needs a high flow return pump, or a smaller pump for a low flow reactor our first choice will always be Sicce.

Quiet, energy-efficient pump for a variety of uses in wet or dry application. Use in salt or freshwater.

Product Questions

I have a 60 cube what is the recomended gph I should get for the tank
I was thinking this model 3.5 would be best but still unsure
Question by: Josh on Mar 21, 2016 10:55:00 AM
Great question!
For a standard return pump you will want 10x your system volume (the sicce 3.5) many people will take head height into consideration for example the Sicce 3.5 has 660 gph at 0' height. at 12.5' the flow will be 0 GPH. At 6' for example the flow will typically be around 300 GPH. This means you also have the option to up-size the pump to account for head height. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!

Will this pump be sufficient for my 76 gal tank protein skimmer?
Question by: Rob on Jan 18, 2014 11:51:00 AM
Hey Rob,
Most likely it would be fine but you will usually find a required or recomended flow rate in your protein skimmers specifications. Assuming that falls somewhere into this flow range as most skimmers for a 76g tank would you should be in great shape!

  • Loud By John on 7/5/2017

The pump works good if you can keep the thing from vibrating and shaking my sump. Would not buy again!
  • Efficient but vibrates too much By Shark on 2/9/2017

I've been running this pump for 2 years now. For 99% of the time I have owned it, it vibrates everything while humming. The entire plumbing assembly vibrates. Im sure this bothers the fish. It bothers me. Nothing fixes it. Trust me Ive tried everything. Do yourself a favor and buy an external pump. All I can say is at least it is reliable. 3 stars for that.
  • Powerful and quiet By Anibal on 10/21/2016

This pump is a silent beast. Extremely reliable and easy to setup.
  • Well made! By Russ K on 7/2/2015

The pump is a solid and quiet. The "NPT" fittings work great with the included adapters, but leak easily when plumbed directly - even with Teflon tape. I did not want to go too thick on the tape and risk cracking the connection, so I added a bit of silicone to the threads and finally got a seal. Looks great externally. The shroud that covers the inlet is a nice touch to hide the fittings.
  • Quiet, but head height is significant. By Jim on 12/27/2014

This is a really nice quiet pump. Be sure to review the head height vs. flow chart carefully. This pump loses flow pretty rapidly compared to some others based on the height of your return.
  • Energy efficient, but not silent By Liz on 8/13/2014

There's nothing "silent" about this pump, it emits a loud hum like all the others (though maybe quieter? I'd like to see decibel noise comparison readings on these products that claim to be quieter). I bought it for the energy efficiency/reduce heat in the aquarium. The flow adjust valve is easy to reach/turn. Provides ample flow for a 40 gallon aquarium with a 5' return from the sump.
  • Excellent pump By Corey on 12/28/2013

I ordered this pump about 3 months ago after some thorough research. This is an awesome pump for the price, very quiet! The included output adapter made it easy to connect 1" vinyl tubing. Overall, I'm very happy with this pump.
