Product Questions

What kind of shelf life does Selcon have once the bottle has been opened / how can I tell if it is too old?
Question by: Bruce Hanson on Aug 8, 2015 10:35:00 AM
Great question!
The Selcon will have a refrigerated life of approximately 12 Months maximum. There is not a great way to tell, and the negative effect of using old selcon won't be bad, some of the effectiveness of certain parts will have worn down.

  • Great addition to food By James on 11/30/2016

I use this product in conjunction with garlic to entice my fish to eat frozen brine shrimp. They all seem to like it, and in the beginning, this is what got them to eat frozen brine shrimp.
  • Coral like it too By Fishers Coral Reef Farm on 11/23/2016

I like to soak my Reef Chile in Selcon before target feeding corals. Otherwise, I pre-soak flake food in it and the fish really eat it up.
  • Nice supplement By Larry on 4/25/2016

I soak my frozen food with a little tank water and Selcon once a week. Fish seem to like it and I feel like it helps with their overall health and color.
  • Amazing product! By KUBA on 3/11/2016

This stuff is amazing! The fish went crazy fighting over food.... yes it increased their appetite by a ton. I also gave some socked shrimp to my NEMS, my BTAS bubbled up allot and colored up. This is funny i found out that i have one more BTA than I thought (it never bubbled up in the past )

    AMAZING PRODUCT GET IT!
  • Great Product By Chris on 1/7/2016

I use this twice a week and my tank is happy and healthy. I always trust and value the opinions and advise offered from BRS.
  • Great Product and noticeable improvement By Tam on 9/30/2015

My anemones dance when I feed them frozen food soaked with Selcon. My fish are also getting fatter after I started using Selcon with food daily.
  • Fish love it By Benjamin on 9/15/2015

I add this to frozen food about every other feeding. There is noticeable difference to how the fish eat when using to not. Clearly the fish love this stuff. Whether it makes an impact on their health, I don't know, but they sure do scramble for the food pieces more when this is mixed in.
  • Good stuff! By Larry on 5/28/2015

I soak my frozen food in a little bit of water with Selcon to add healthy nutrients for my fish.
  • Greatest Additive! By Ozzie on 4/2/2015

My fish and corals love this stuff, just some drops in a little container with either pellets, flake or frozen brine and that's it!

  • Anthias Saver By Chris on 5/4/2014

This stuff is great at getting finicky fish such as Anthias to eat. It has a very strong smell which I believe the fish react too. I've also seen benefits in use during QT to help fish recover from diseases or bacterial infections faster. I've also seen better coloration and size (bulk) in all my fish after a few months of continued use.

I add about .5ml to a very small amount of tank water with my frozen cubes of Mysis or Spirulina Brine while thawing. The small bottle has lasted me about 3 or 4 months when using 2/3 times a week.
  • My fish are spoiled By Jordan on 4/20/2014

If I am not soaking in selcon, my fish do not have nearly the appetite.
