Energy Bar 832 - More Than Just a Powerstrip

  • 8 Independently Controllable Outlets
  • Individual Outlet Power Monitoring
  • Two 24VDC Accessory Ports
  • Three 1Link Ports
  • Three AquaBus Ports

The Neptune Systems Energy Bar 832 (EB832) is designed as an ultimate power control hub for aquariums, featuring eight 120V AC outlets, an internal 100W 24VDC power supply, three built-in 1LINK ports, and two 24VDC accessory ports. It offers individual power monitoring, LED indicators for each outlet, and UL certification for safety. These features allow for the best monitoring and control, no matter where in the world you are.

Note: The Energy Bar 832 cannot be used as a standalone device and requires a Neptune Systems Apex Controller for operation. It is not compatible with the legacy, Apex Classic Controller systems.

Eight Independently Controlled Outlets

The completely redesigned Energy Bar 832 now has eight individual 7-amp relayed outlets letting you use any outlet for any device. Each outlet can also monitor and detect power usage in amps or watts, letting you set alarms and send emails when equipment has failed or is drawing an unusual amount of power. These notifications are crucial in allowing you to solve the issue before it becomes a bigger problem.

Three 1Link Ports

The built in 100W DC power supply lets you control up to 3 1Link accessories like the WAV circulation pumps, and DOS fluid metering system without the need of any additional power supplies or consuming additional outlets.

Two 24VDC Accessory Ports

Each Energy Bar 832 is equipped with two 24VDC accessory ports that can power accessories like the PMUP Utility Pump, SV-1 Solenoid Valve, GRO Refugium Light, or even DIY connections to other devices using the DC24 to Bare Wire Accessory.

Product Questions

Is the EB 382 energy bar the same for the A2 pro and newer A3 pro controllers
Question by: Lida McAllister on Nov 10, 2022, 4:32 PM
The Neptune Systems EB832 can be used on the A2 and A3 Apex models but they have been redesigned with more robust outlets, individual LEDs show the status of each outlet, per outlet power consumption, and 1Link Accessories like the DOS and WAV pump can now connect directly to the Energy Bar 832.
Answer by: Scott F. (BRS Staff) on Nov 10, 2022, 5:41 PM
Does Neptune Systems suggest connecting the EB832 to a GFCI outlet through a Surge Protector?
The available User Guide mentions an onboard circuit breaker for over-current protection, but makes no reference of surge suppression to guard both the EB832 and the associated equipment plugged into it against a possible power surge.
Question by: Mitchell McClintock on Aug 5, 2022, 11:27 AM
Thanks for the question! There is no built in surge protection to help in the event of a power surge, we'd recommend having this plugged into a surge protector for an extra layer of protection for the EB832 and connected devices. Let us know if we can help with anything else!

Why are outlets 4 and 8 separated visually from the others. I can find no documentation to clarify. Thanks!
Question by: Peter Mussett on Apr 11, 2022, 9:58 PM
Thank you for the question! These two outlets are separated a bit to accomodate larger outlet plugs/power supplies that may take up more space and obstruct a second outlet if plugged into the others on the EB832.

Hi There,
Thank you for reaching out with your question. The EB832 has a 6 foot power cord and also comes with a 3 foot Aquabus cable.

What is the maximum amp draw for the EB832?
Question by: Jonathan on May 24, 2017, 6:19 AM
Each outlet is rated for a maximum of 7 amps, but the energy bar is limited to cumulative total of 15 amps.

Happy reefing!

Can I use this instead of the 4 outlet strip on a Apex Jr.?
Question by: Julia LaBorde on Jan 8, 2017, 3:03 PM
Great question! Unfortunately, you cannot use the newer EB832 with the Apex Jr nor the Apex Classic. You can, however, use the standard EB8 with the Apex Jr. :-)

How does this connect/ interact with my existing apex Neptune system
Question by: Michael Simon on Oct 3, 2016, 9:03 PM
Hey Michael,
The Energy Bar 832 is not compatible with existing Apex "classic" units at this time. If you have any other questions, let us know!
Answer by: Jason Smith on Oct 12, 2016, 7:45 AM
I'm guessing so, but will the head unit and all accessories for the new apex package be available for purchase separately?
Question by: William on Jul 1, 2016, 8:55 PM
Hey William,

Eventually you will be able to buy the head unit separately (I don't have an exact ETA, yet). The accessories will be available sooner as individual products.
