The short rail kit if mounted according to the photos on the product page with the short rail can spread the radions 4" apart. This will spread the light evenly across the tank while allowing for middle coverage. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!

No sag here By Sapelo on 5/21/2015Sapelo would recommend this product to a friendSomeone mentioned that they had a sagging issue using this product. I do not. It was easy to install, looks very nice, and works perfectly.
Decent By Mike on 4/28/2014Mike would recommend this product to a friendIf I wasn't in such a rush to hang my Radions I would make my own DIY rails. Anyway, these rails are no frills and are sturdy. I recommend using Loctite 242 on the nuts to prevent potential unscrewing or replace the nuts with lock nuts.
Functional, but not great aesthetics By Houston on 4/17/2013Houston would recommend this product to a friendInstalled the short rail with hanging kit with the Radion Pros on my 4x2x2' tank, and functionally, they hold the lights up. The rail only bolts to the inside of the lights, with the cables mounted on the outside. It seems to me that the finished unit droops a bit in the middle. A rail that would extend across the lights completely would increase the rigidity, and fix this issue. I chose this setup as it was what was recommended on the ecotech site, but perhaps I would build a rail in retrospect for about the same price or less with stronger support. In different applications this product may work flawlessly, but this is my experience with the setup.
