  • Great for acrylic aquariums as long as you use the small blades only! By pfoxgrover on 1/15/2017

Great for acrylic aquariums as long as you use the small blades only! Buy plenty of replacement blades as they do not last long on large aquariums with a lot of coraline algae. I am using the long strong version for my 1/2" thick acrylic aquarium. After I clean the coraline algae I shave off an 1/4" thick piece of "magic eraser" cleaning sponge and put it under the wet side magnet and do another trip around the tank to finish and get off any green algae that is still there. Always test it out to make sure it doesn't have a piece of sand embedded into the blade, this can happen when cleaning near the sand bed at least it happened to me once. I always clean the bottom last or with blades that are almost spent.

This magnet has replaced 90% of my hand scraper usage. It reaches places that my hand scraper can't. This makes short work of coraline. Would get 5 stars if the blue components and the main blade would hold more securely. One suggestion would be to make one single felt pad in stead of 4 round.
  • very good product By Roman on 11/24/2016

I really like this scraper. Make sure you get the razor blades as well.
The scraper does not fall off if you go slow. :)

I have the strong + cleaner it's fantastic it cleans most algae in one swipe it scrapes cora line off from the most hard to reach spots with in a couple of passes the strong plus is the best in my opinion
  • Worthless, don't bother By Crued on 11/8/2016

I have 1" acrylic and purchased the Strong+ which is supposed to work on 1" glass. It does not. Immediately after attaching you can tell it has no power at all. It also doesn't do the job, very little to no algae was removed. Little back and forth jabs at tiny spots of coralline would take hours to be effective. The unit is also very small and not easy to hold. This causes *LOTS* of falls on the interior magnet, which does not float. Despite all the attempted engineering to not pick up gravel, it's actually really good at picking up gravel.

All around it's just horrible... a complete waste on a an expensive tool which doesn't work. Maybe if you bought the Strong+ for a 3/8 glass or something, but definitely don't bother with 3/4" or higher.
