Product Questions

So if my old PVC pipes from Home depot say 1" on them, they are referring to outer diamater? so if i want to replace theirs with BRS pipes i need to buy 3/4" ??? can you confirm?
Question by: Gor Shtikyan on Nov 26, 2017, 10:25 AM
The nominal rating, which nearly all pvc is marked with, refers to the inner diameter. 1" marked pvc from home depot should have the same dimensions as our 1" pvc. To avoid confusion between inner diameter and outer diameter between pipes and fittings, we utilize the nominal rating which will remain consistent between pipe and fittings of the same marked size.

Hope this helps!

Would it be possible to get the matching fitting? 90s 45 and union?

Olivier
Question by: Olivier Le Clerc on May 19, 2017, 7:29 PM
At this time we only have the pvc available in different colors. All fittings are only available in schedule 40 white or schedule 80 gray. While I don't believe we have any immediate plans to bring in all off the fittings in the various colors, you never know in the future!

Have a great day!

What size pvc do i use for a 65 gallon drilled reef tank , using a trigger systems crystal 30 gal sump and a 700 pond mag return pump, looking to buy red pvc from brs
Question by: Ryan on Jan 4, 2017, 7:03 PM
Great question! Usually, most reefers plumb their return pump lines with either 3/4" or 1" PVC. Drain lines are typically 1" or 1.5". The best place to get plumbing ideas, tips and tricks, are from some of the reef hobbyist forums. :-)

If I buy 1" pipe, what size fittings do I need to buy to connect them?
Question by: Joel on Jul 10, 2016, 3:57 PM
Hi Joel,
If you PVC pipe are marked as 1” then you will want to use 1” fittings with that pipe. It doesn't matter if it is Sch 40, or Sch 80 they are interchangeable.

Hi,

To clarify, the Color PVC item sold is Furniture grade. But my understanding was that furniture grade PVC wasn’t meant for plumbing purposes.

Is this because of the possibility of leaching chemicals from the pipe into the flowing water? If so, why is it being sold?
Question by: Che C on Jun 14, 2016, 8:16 AM
Great question!
For clarification the colored PVC will not leech anything as it is still PVC only. The difference is being Pressure rated such as the PVC pipe in the hardware store which will unfortunately be printed on every inch of the pipe. We use the Colored as it looks better and the role in the aquarium is not under the large pressures. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!

Are the sizes shown the inner or outer diameter?
Question by: John on Jun 1, 2016, 5:22 PM
Great question!
All PVC pipe will be measured by inside diameter. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!

Is this for drain only or can this also be used for the pressure side?
Question by: Eric on May 16, 2016, 10:59 PM
Great question!
This can be used on either drain or return line without issue.

Is there any chance I could get a special order of 10" red pvc?????
Question by: Brent on May 2, 2016, 6:14 AM
Great question!
Unfortunately we are unable to special order different sizes of PVC. Other dimensions may be able to be found at large online plastic retailers. If you are looking for a short piece the full PVC is easy cut with PVC cutters at a local hardware store or with a hack saw.

Question by: Steven Terenzio on Apr 19, 2016, 6:51 AM
