My city has been recently evacuated due to a forest fire and we're currently under a boil water advisory will this system still be usable under these conditions?
Question by: Ryan Oakenfold on Jun 1, 2016 11:03:00 PM
Certainly will work to remove all contaminants from the source water. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!
Answer by: Connor (Admin) on Jun 2, 2016 11:08:00 AM
Can I use this system to make drinking water? If so ; what stage or filter do I need to remove to do this? Was told that long term RO water is bad for u.
Question by: Robert on Jun 15, 2016 5:23:00 PM
Great question! Technically this unit is not NSA certified for drinking water use, here is a link to our NSA certified drinking water unit:
Answer by: Carter (Admin) on Jun 16, 2016 10:15:00 AM
I'm on a well with very hard water , w/iron bacteria I'm looking for a RO system to clean the water for drinking
I have one now , but it died.
Question by: Joel on Jun 16, 2016 3:56:00 PM
Answer by: Carter (Admin) on Jun 21, 2016 12:13:00 PM
Does this unit continue to produce waste water, even when its auto shut-off is triggered by the included flat valve? I don't want to waste water when I'm not actively producing RO water.
Question by: David on Jan 28, 2016 2:16:00 PM
Great question!
The unit will stop producing waste water after the float valve is triggered. The float valve will build up pressure and cause the Auto Shut Off Valve to trigger. The Auto Shut Off will turn off the red lin entering into the membrane which stops product and waste water from flowing. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!
Answer by: Connor (Admin) on Feb 4, 2016 6:17:00 PM
I don't want to put this under the kitchen sink. I want to put it in laundry room. would it work with laundry room faucets..I don't want to store the water because no place to put it. I just want to trun the valve on off to collect water.
Question by: Ahmed Siddiqui on May 24, 2016 1:36:00 PM
Great question! The unit should be able to hook up to most standard utility sinks using the included garden hose/utility sink adapter.
Answer by: Carter (Admin) on May 26, 2016 11:45:00 AM
How often does the 75 GPD DOW Filmtec RO Membrane need replasced how do I know it is time? I am talking about the white bullet shaped thing on the top?
Question by: Daniel Messina on Jul 3, 2016 2:12:00 PM
Ideally the membrane will last around 2 years. You will be able to see with a TDS meter on the IN section. The ro should reduce around 99% (with a single membrane) and bring your TDS on the In to around 0-10. If on the single membrane it is higher than 10 after running the unit you will want to consider a replacement.
Answer by: Valerie (Admin) on Jul 5, 2016 4:35:00 PM
Is there any installation with regards to the TDS meter, pressure gauge, and flush kit? Or does this unit arrive with everything already connected?
Question by: Iman on Mar 21, 2016 12:54:00 PM
Great question!
The accessories will already be installed on the unit. You will only need to make the direct water connection to bring water into the system as well as hooking up the drain (waste water line) Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!
Answer by: Connor (Admin) on Mar 22, 2016 10:42:00 AM
How much pressure is there in the output line? Can I route it upwards along cabinetry and up walls, or long distances? Or is it best for short flat, or downward, distances only?
Question by: Greg Chapman on Dec 19, 2016 8:16:00 PM
Hey there,
The RO system pressure on the product line will vary as this is a percentage of the pressure on the membrane (some of the pressure will bleed off to the waste line), but generally if you are getting 60psi for instance, you can expect to get around 40psi or so on the product line. It's normally not an issue to route the tubing around the house for a fair distance and we've had people run their product line up a floor, across the house, etc. Have a great day!
Answer by: Zack (Admin) on Dec 28, 2016 2:11:00 PM
If I buy the 75Gpd unit is it possible to upgrade the unit to a 150gpd down the road?

Question by: Corey on Jan 19, 2016 3:53:00 PM
Great question.
You can upgrade to the 150 from the 75 very easily. I have included the link to the kit below!
Answer by: Connor (Admin) on Jan 27, 2016 2:57:00 PM
I have this system, is it possible that my incoming water can have a TDS of 1 ppm, I am wondering if the TDS meter is malfunctioning, or my water is that good??/ is there a second test I can do,or does the TDS meter have to be cleaned?
Question by: val sammut on Jan 18, 2017 6:09:00 PM
Awesome question! You can move one of the TDS sensors from the DI resin to the red line that feeds the unit. This will allow you to test your TDS from you faucet. It is possible that your specific water quality is lower than 100ppm TDS, which would result in a very low TDS after the RO membrane! :-)
Answer by: Randy (Admin) on Jan 20, 2017 10:00:00 AM
What is the power source for the TDS Meter?
Question by: Carlos Fuentes on Mar 13, 2016 12:32:00 PM
Great question!
These will use a standard watch battery as power. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!
Answer by: Connor (Admin) on Mar 14, 2016 5:37:00 PM
My tap water may come warm, not really hot in the summer. What is the highest water temperature for the system to work properly?
Thank you very much.
Question by: Carlos Fuentes on Mar 13, 2016 12:36:00 PM
great question!
The water temp should ideally never rise above 90 degrees. This is not recommended to be plugged into a hot water line as the temp will often exceed this. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!
Answer by: Connor (Admin) on Mar 14, 2016 6:43:00 PM
Dose this system come with everything to start using it? ie. hoses, connections, filters etc.
Question by: Johnny DeLeon on Oct 23, 2015 7:57:00 PM
Great question!
This unit will contain all necessary components for total installation including under sink and the float valve for installation on an RO reservoir. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!

BRS 6 Stage Universal Plus RO/DI System Instructions

Dow Filmtec Membrane BW60-1812-75

All BRS RO/DI systems reflect the latest in reverse osmosis technology with updated filters, components and design updates.

Value systems:Designed to treat for chlorine, low volume chloramine usage and most well water*. Value systems are compact, portable, upgradeable and most importantly affordable.

Universal systems: Designed to be best in industry filtration for chloramines, chlorine and well water as well as cover the widest array of contaminants. This is the ideal solution if you simply want to know you have the best filtration available.

*If you are unsure if your city uses chlorine or chloramines you can use a LaMotte Insta-Test Free & Total Chlorine & Chloramine Test Strip or call your city's water treatment facility. If you don't want to bother with that, get the Universal system and know you are covered. Over 40% of municipal water supplies are now treated with hard to remove chloramines. This number is growing everyday so we recommend to the Unversal systems. If you select a Value system today, it is future proof and fully upgradeable. We offer Value to Universal Upgrade Kits which are super easy to install.

The Universal Plus model is our most popular in this series; it includes a triple stage TDS meter and pressure gauge to monitor and ensure system performance as well as a flush kit to protect and prolong membrane performance.

Recommended Conditions:

  • Minimum Water Pressure - 50 PSI
  • Max Water Pressure - 90 PSI
  • Recommended Water Temperature - 77°F
  • Recommended Max TDS - <300ppm

Water pressure can be increased by adding a booster pump before your RO/DI system if a pressure increase is required. Low pressure will cause slow production of product water, with excess production of waste water. Pressure over 90 PSI may cause damage to the RO/DI units filters and components.

  • Plug and play By Ryan on 3/8/2017

So much easier to install than I thought! Everything came preassembled. I just had to connect the output from RO unit to the input of the DI unit, connect the water source, place the drain, and connect to the treated water reservoir. literally plug and play. figuring where to hang it was the hardest part :)
  • Excellent Value By Kevin on 2/12/2017

This system is an excellent value with everything you need to produce 0 tds water with the ability to easily update to a higher throughput system if you find that is necessary later.
  • Perfect By ttk on 1/18/2017

Worth one the investment. Must have for all reefer.
  • its great, works as expected By matt on 9/13/2016

it was a snap to set up, came packaged nicely, i did run into an issue with some of the hoses leaking, but that was quickly fixed, BRS support is great!
  • Great System By Chris on 8/26/2016

I had this unit up and running in minutes. I have both chloramines and high TDS in my tap water. This system easily handles everything my terrible tap water can throw at it.
  • AWESOME! By Max on 8/5/2016

Works amazingly in my garage. I did this by the instructions given and was simple to install. I was able to replenish my 5 gallon top off container last night and have another 5 gallons on standby. I even drink the water with dinner last night and was outstanding. Will be recouping my costs in no time here for RO water for my tank and will even be able to drink it so double plus.
  • Very well built By Lei on 5/7/2016

Comes ready to go. Easy to maintain and use. Wish I had this from the beginning of my tank. Hauling water sucks.
  • Great product! By Tyler on 4/21/2016

  • Awesome product By Spof121 on 4/4/2016

I purchased this system because my water comes from a well. Without treatment my water starts at just under 150 ppm. Prior to going into the DI resin this system brings the water to 11 ppm. The first stage of the DI brings it to zero . Really works well. Keep in mind if you are on a well system you will have to increase the incoming pressure to your house. This can be done very easily by adjusting the pressure switch. My lowest pressure coming into this system is 45 psi and it moves all the way up to 65 PSI . It works great at these pressures.
  • Very Happy with the Product By Mark on 3/28/2016

The unit was well packaged and I was able to install it after a call to customer service to obtain the information needed to extend the water lines. The unit is running great and now I don't have to worry about the nitrate level in my water supply which was causing a higher than normal nitrate level in my tank. The output of the unit is above the 75GPD noted. 5 Stars. I highly recommend the product.
  • Great Product By Jeffrey on 2/20/2016

I have been using this for seven months now. Best investment I've made. I would highly recommend the booster pump. My TDS on stage one went from 12 to 3 after I installed the pump. Great quality as to be expected with BRS.
  • Great well built product. By Kevin S. on 1/12/2016

Easy to install and use! Checked with two TDS meters and both read 0. The DI resin is being used faster than expected but inexpensive to replace. Best investment I have made yet!
