Beware of misleading doc!
As stated by another reviewer, the documentation is misleading, by letting you believe there's a 1-7 day adjustable delay. The valve shuts off as advertised, but you need to manually push a button to restart the refill. Alternatively, you have to unplug and plug it again to start a new fill cycle, or use an external timer to shut it off, then on again. Luckily I have an APEX system which I can program to do the job. The sol valve so far seems to work with the auto shutoff. But poor design and sleezy advertising...
An essential tool!!
I have been using four of these for over six months. Not a glitch! I have two connected to top off tanks, the third on my mixing station and the fourth I use to fill up emergency RO water containers without overfilling and spilling water.
No More Floods!
I preferred this over a float value and talked myself out of buying this unit for 10 mos. because I thought I would always remember to shut off the value on my freshwater storage tank. After a few scares, a couple of floods, and a lot of wasted time I bought one. I only wish I had done it sooner. Like others have said, it is an auto shut off not an ATO. That hasn't been an issue for me.
Definitely a good unit for the price
I use this in my fish room for filling my quarantine tanks. It is worked for a few months without fail but I will say I've only used it a couple times. I might even consider using this as an ATO for my aquarium injunction with some type of smart socket. It would be nice to have some type of holder for the unit being that it is a little heavy.
No more worries if my RO unit stopped or not!
For years I used a simple reverse osmosis float valve my occasionally it just didn't work. Well with the Flood Guardian I no longer have to second guess myself or wake up in the middle of the night to check.
Awesome for ATO container and water changes
This really has been an anxiety reducer. I used to have to use just a smart water level sensor, but it didn't have the auto-shutoff. So if I missed the water level sensor alert, it would over flow, which happened a couple of times. With this product I just place the optical sensor in the ATO tank or my salt mixing container, then I can walk away and know if won't overflow. I've had the product for about 6 months now and it's been 100% reliable. Also, I like the quiet audible 5-beeps when it's done filling.
Love this thing, i produce my RODI in the basement laundry room. It is nice to have this auto top off and that it does not require light to work. My reservoir is completely sealed and does not allow light to reduce algae risk. The only downside I have on it is that you have to restart it which is a pain sometimes when we have 4 tanks and someone forgets to refill the RODI. But on the other hand it keeps it from allowing the sensor to fail and kick on at the wrong time I suppose.
Description is misleading
One of the descriptions sub title
"1-7 Day Delay" states "Just set how many days you want the Flood Guardian to delay before refills"
The whole subtitle in my opinion is misleading into thinking this actual device can delay the fill to prevent TDS creep.
Then the instructions in the box tells me to hook it to a timer to delay it. Why not put in the description that a timer is not included for that operation.
Does its job. Prevents overfills.
I make my rodi in the garage. I used to run it at night and forget to turn it off. Water would be all over my floor and out the garage. Now with this setup. I just run it and forget it. Its a great investment for 50 bucks. No more overfills.
Got my connected to a smart plug
I have a line running directly from the rodi to my reef tank , so I have it connected to a smart plug which turns on about 3 times a day and tops off my tank with fresh rodi water also mindful the smart plug is only on for 15 min Incase anything was ever to fail
