No issues, but there is an odor. It will mess with your water height when the water level falls as the reel turns. My return section is small and it can slightly raise my skimmer water height. I had to make my fuge and skimmer water height the same to greatly lessen the effect.
Like someone said in a review in the past, what are you waiting for! So happy to be done with filter socks. Mine has been up and running for about three months now with zero issues and amazing results!
WOW - Update
This is AN Update to 10/11/2018 posting by Yellow Donkey for this item.
UPDATE - so only a couple days short of 90 days and I replaced my 1st roll of fleece. My original guess of 30 days was way off and the manufacturer was dead correct. I went through the roll and there was so much trash collected it was ugly. I did notice though that the 1st 25% of the roll was much cleaner and only got dirtier as time went on. This would support my guess of a higher micro as I used Absolute 10 and 25 micron socks before the install and now the water is a little dirtier, but overall still no visible difference to the eye.
After 90 days or roughly what would have been 50 sock changes, I couldn't be happier, its the only way to go.
Why are you waiting???
Don't know why I was ever changing filter socks. This is a billion times easier and more cost effective. One roll lasts about 2-3 weeks for me in my 90 with about 600 gph throughput.
Greatest improvement in Clean water
I use filter socks on my red sea 170 what a pain, but it keeps things sparkling. MY 200 gallon always has a problem with clarity due to no socks. It now is looking great. I am not easily impressed but this product is doing its job. Thanks Bulk Reef!
So far this working fine but be advised that the connectors are metric and will not fit anything without some jury rigging. I'm not happy with how I had to attach the return. Bulkreef needs to step up and provide adapters for these metric products.
This is used on a 100 gallon quarantine tank and it works wonderfully!!!!!
Works as advertised
I own both rollermats and I like this one only slightly less than the big one. Since I only have this connected to my 40 gallon frag tank, I did not need or have the room for another big rollermat. One complaint is that the hook only allows for rimless tanks, I happen to use cheap 29 gallon standard tanks from petco for my sump. The other complaint is that parts are not yet available. I would expect that will be corrected as soon as production meets demand. Overall this is a good product and beats dealing with filter socks! I am happy with my purchase.
Excited to see the dirty roll grow!
I love this thing, like seriously it's amazing! Usually I'm such a penny pincher when it comes to buying new things (I have two 7 inch socks I wash every other day to rotate) but decided to bite the bullet and order one of these. When I first recieved it it was a little larger than what I imagined but decided to ram in under the stand and work it. Once I saw the fittings on the BRS video I hard plumbed it under the 425xl stand and it looks WAY nicer and actually fits neatly. Didnt think the felt was gonna last long but it's goingthe distance. I check it every day in excitement to see how much crude was removed the day before....like seriously it's so satisfying seeing that filth trapped and removed from my tank. So now my two old socks sit in the corner of the stand looking back at me with sad eyes. Sorry dudes, I just found something better out there that doesn't require all my attention like yall did. Thanks BRS for pushing me outside of my penny pinching box!
I never write reviews, ever.
I have to say this thing is amazing! works flawlessly, I’m so glad to not deal with dirty socks anymore as is the wife ;) couldn’t be happier. I’m running about 600gals an hour through it with no problem. I actually prefer running a little more through it as it advances the fleece a little faster rather than waiting to get dirtier than I’d like.
