Okay so first off, I have 4 Saltwater Tanks and have been using Flippers on all of them. I have been using an undersized one on my reefer 750 and decided it was time to upgrade. After reading such great reviews about this product I decided to give it a shot. So HAPPY I did. I think one of the major differences is that you use the pad and the scrapper at the same time so you really get the glass clean. The kicker is I ordered the wrong one (my mistake) I called the company direct, and without hesitation said "no problem, ill take care of you" and sent me a new "wet side" with the scrapper. Did not even make me pay for shipping. Talk about customer service!
I have had several cleaners this by far is the best. Strong magnet. Definitely recommend.....
This thing is great. You can even feel that its sturdy when you pull it out. The best thing about this glass cleaner is that the blade sticks out like an inch 1/2 so I can take the cleaner to the top of my glass and on the outside the wooden block will hit my trim but on the inside it will go all the way to the top of the trim and clean the inside. My old one could not do that. I can get this blade into a lot of smaller places because of that.
This is a monster. It cleans with a single stroke. Just feels great to hold. I see why they call it a shark... It grabs like nothing else. Buying the smaller one for my tank upstairs.
10 years + and still the best
I've had this scraper for more than 10 years. When I purchased mine the razor portion of the scraper didn't come with the basic unit but was an attachment that you bought seperately and added on (which I did). My aquarium is a 240g glass reef with 1/2" glass. This cleaner works flawlessly. I only use the scrubber for my weekly maintenance, add the razor when I need to clean up some coralline algae. There's one review here that states that this scraper doesn't clean his tank. I can't imagine a situation where this would be the case.
Does not clean my 210 gl tank
Very frustrated. Have used other magnetic scrapers by same company, never a problem. This one does not work. Not recommended.
great magnet cleaner, but...
My only complaint with this product, other than cost, is that the glue holding the felt to the outer magnet sometimes gives way, allowing the felt to roll up and smear the outside of your tank with glue. If that could be improved this thing would be perfect. Still seems to be the best option out there.
Works Great ; very strong magnets
This thing is a monster. It will easily clear everything off your glass. I'm using this on 5/8" glass. The magnets are so strong you will get a workout using them. On 5/8" glass I believe you could get away with the Hammerhead. I think the Hammerhead is the same size as the Tiger Shark. If you have 1/2" glass, this scrapper will do the job.
Bought the Piranha Float Plus. Takes everything, including hard to remove algae (coralline, diatom, etc), with minimal scraping. Worked great on my glass surface with the stainless steel scraper. Love that it floats, though the stainless steel part does not. It fits into the floating portion pretty snugly so when you transition from one side of the aquarium to another, it doesn't pop out when you lose your magnetic connectivity. Also won't simply fall out while floating either. It's possible, but so far, I haven't had it happen.
Tiger Shark Scraper
i used the magnafloat algae scraper for 7 years on my 75G. I upgraded my tank from a 75G to a 180G and couldn't be happier with the Tiger Shark Magnet i recently purchased. The magnet is very powerful so i do not lose it while im cleaning the glass. I am able to turn corners without the magnet coming apart and getting blown around in the powerheads.
