Failed within a week
Stayed in the on position twice within a week. Thankful just cycling the take. Would be disastrous for my 10 gallon with all that fresh water lowering salinity. Beyond disappointed. Should have payed attention to the bad reviews...
The pump coughs, meaning it wouldnt pump out water and eventually you run dry. One remedy is to unplug and plug back but that defeats the purpose of the Automation procedure. Buying this is a major disaster in the making.
Great system for price
I've had this for over a year and it's worked great. I only had one failure where there was build-up on the float and it didn't drop and let the pump turn on. Moral is, clean the pump and float every couple of weeks and it works as intended.
Buy the 3155 model vs the 3152 model
Don’t waste $ on the 3152. The 3152 is unreliable. Works for about 3 days then the pump needs to be primed again. I also have the 3155 and it has consistently worked as design. Not sure if it is because of the eye or the controller since both models supposedly use the same pump.
Work great for a while, then all kinds of errors
These work great for a year or so and then you'll be constantly unplugging and plugging them back in because the sensor is not working. Next you'll be manually fiddling with the sensor itself because for some odd reason it doesn't like to trip the pump even when the magnetic sensor is clearly in the correct position for it to turn on.
I've had this overflow my JBJ 28g nano in our bedroom more than once. Luckily the noise of a constantly running pump wakes me up to unplug. After that I get to wait for the extra gallon of water to evaporate so I don't screw up my SG.
I wouldn't buy one of these again.
2 units both failed
I have 2 of these nano's and also a regular 3155. I had high hopes for the nano but both failed and in different ways. usually it's the float that gets stuck in the down position, other times it's the run timer that doesn't function as it's supposed too, overfills the tanks, runs the reservoir dry and either burns up the pump or runs for hours on end til I come home. One unit overfilled my 10g nano tank by 5 gallons and you can imagine the devastation that this caused to the our loft cabinets. (wife wasn't happy either). I love these at first, due to simplicity and the normal Tunze product love but these units are seriously flawed. I highly recommend you buy the full size 3155 over the nano's (never had an issue with the 3155 ever). You get what you pay for. I waited too long to return these and I'm out the cash but hey lesson learned right oh and my cabinet guy really loves me right now too. BRS really should stop carrying these until a proven fix or revised product is put in it's place.
No muss, no fuss, just works.
Simple ATO for smaller tanks. Has built-in overflow protection. I have it on an office tank which is unattended on weekends. No problems yet.
Not a long term solution.
I own 2 of these units. Both are on nano sized tanks. One unit overfills constantly (apex set run times fixes this but that’s not the point). The other unit doesn’t shut off if the reservoir is empty. (Again using another apex to set run times saved a few pumps). Either way. Both units worked great for a few months. My other big tunze osmolator has been running flawlessly for years. Tunze dropped the ball on the nano version.
A quality system from Tunze
I don't know why so many people are having the "reset" problem. I have a feeling it's user error more than the equipment. I have had this setup for 9 months now and it has never, even once, had a hiccup. Has worked flawlessly. The safety features have worked flawlessly when I forgot to turn the ATO off during water changes. Great product and decent price!
One less thing I have to deal with each day! My water level stays constant so salinity is constant as well. This is being monitored by my Apex using leak detection module.
I am very pleased with how well things are working.
