  • Dusty but easy to fix and use By on 9/27/2017

An effective way of reducing Phosphates. Some advice to those complaining or having fear of dust: As some reviews note, this stuff can be quite dusty. ESPECIALLY at the bottom of the container when you are on the last doses. Having said that, it's very easy to filter out. Simply run water through it in a sock. I shuffle mine back and forth between 2 cups a few times to let the loose dust out first. In MY case, I have an Avast Spyglass so I can put in the media, run water through it to remove particulates, then place in the reactor for use.
My only issue w/this stuff is that it compacts after a week or so and loses the ability to tumble. Hence the 4 stars vs 5. In my case the pros outweigh the cons in spite of the # of cons: Pros - it works. Cons - it only lasts a couple weeks, it's expensive, stops tumbling in my spyglass after a week or so, overuse is a problem.
  • Sarcastic Disaster By on 9/21/2017

If you like looking at a brown tank, then this is the product for you. If you don't like looking at brown tank, but want zero flow coming out of your reactor, then this is the product for you. If you want to drain your entire tank to get the brown water out of your tank, then this is the product for you. If you want to be able to use 20 gallons of water to rinse it out, then this is the product for you* (*actual results may vary with 50 gallons). If you want to look at a tank to look like someone just committed an upper decker (google it), then this is the product for you.
  • GFO By on 9/9/2017

Its GFO it does its job
  • Great gfo By on 9/1/2017

Long lasting and very effective at removing po4
  • Disastrous mistake By on 8/6/2017

This stuff is dust--it's so fine it will pass right through a filter sock until there's nothing left. It coated my tank in red and caused an algae explosion.
  • Bad batch? By on 6/2/2017

I decided to try this after using phosban. This was basically powder compared to phosban. I don't know if I got a bad batch or if that's how it was. Also very hard to clean using the Innovative Marine reactor
  • Product works great By on 5/29/2017

I use it in a reactor in the sump with carbon and it is helping to keep nitrates and phosphates very low.
  • Best I have used By on 5/21/2017

I really like BRS GFO. I find that it is the best I have used to reducing Phosphates. Good price as well. Worth it.
  • It works well (enough) By on 5/5/2017

I use this in the BSR dual reactor. It works well enough but for me, it gets exhausted too fast. For my size tank (110 gal D.T. about 130 gal total water volume) I have to fill the cartridge almost all the way. That does not give me a lot of room for flow adjustment.

I like the product but I will be getting the BRS High Capacity GFO next time I order.
  • great product By on 4/19/2017

Run this media thru a the BRS reactor with great results. Keeps my Phosphates in ckeck and last longer than the other brands i have used.
