Had this on the back of my Fusion 20gallon for a small cheto religion for about 3 weeks now. y happy with it. The chaeto has about double in size. Great for AIOLI tanks
  • Great light By on 5/14/2014

This little light is great for my refugium in my 14 gallon biocube. The only reason I did not give it five stars is that the suction cup no longer works after 1 year of use. The JBJ was very friendly and helpful. JBJ is sending me a replacement suction cup for $5.00. I would make sure when ordering that you get the upgraded model with the magnet.
  • Working just fine By on 1/21/2014

I bought this guy back in October and have had great success with my refugium since. It sits just a few inches above my 10 gallon and the Chateo has grown so fast and dense it filled the 10 gallon in about a month. So much growth it over came the dragon fire algae.

It is a PITA to hang. I put mine on a piece of glass straight across the top of the 10 like from an old splash guard. Its working great. It is very focused (per description and other reviews) so I might grab another one or 2, as a spare or something.

Very happy, and saved money. This replaced the refugium cfl, that got "wet" rusted and burned up.
  • small and mighty, multifunctional By on 9/19/2013

Good little [little] light. It's a much more focused beam than most people think. It's meant to provide powerful light to only a small area. I've actually got mine about 2-3 feet above my 10 gallon coral quarentine tank. The spread is about 10 inches and the little guys seem to like it just fine. So experiment with it. Maybe light up that spot in the tank that has SPS corals. 50$vs700$ to keep a few small branching corals, at only 4 watts and no heat.
  • Just perfect By on 5/7/2013

This is being used on a lower tank refugium. It is just right for my middle compartment. the side walls reflect the light to all sides of the chamber. I was worried it might be under powered but seems to have the output needed.
  • Super small light By on 6/24/2012

This is a very small light... that being said, it does exactly what it advertises. It is simple to use, thanks to the attached magnet. Just right for small refugium. If you have lots of room, a larger light might be better. But if you're short on space this little light is a great answer for low power output.

LEDs still seem expensive to me... hence only 4 stars for value. Will see how long it lasts!
  • perfect refugium light! By on 5/29/2012

got 1 for my sump/refuguim i built for my biocube. works great and uses alot less power then the small T5 refugium lights!
  • Great Light By on 4/26/2012

Great little light! I made a small refugium in the back of my 29 Biocube and installed this light on the back. The only thing is it does get hot.

I had one of these over my refugium for 2 months, the light are like straight beams of light, so they spread is horrible, they arnt very powerful and are a PITA to hang. I switched back to a regular CFL and that made such a difference my chaeto grew 3x as fast as with this light.

I bought this to light the refugium in the mid-section of my 15 gallon sump. It provides bright light, little heat, and is perfect for the macro algae I sowed. The magnet allows for flexibility in placement and it draws little power.
