- Reefer 250 System (54 Gal) - Red Sea
This item ships directly from Red Sea.
Going from the top of the Reefer system down to the bottom, the first thing you will notice is the crystal clear glass and elegant beveled edges. The second thing you may or may not notice is the slim overflow that houses all the drain and return plumbing to keep the water a constant level within the display tank and surface skimming while being super quiet and taking up a very small amount of real estate inside of the tank. The return nozzle is fully adjustable for to direct the flow where you need it, and the dual drain system keeps overflows from happening like a single drain design may encounter. The dual drain design has one main drain that includes a diaphragm valve for easy tuning and adjustments. The other drain is completely open to flow directly down into the sump in the event that the main drain gets clogged. If plumbing is one of the reasons why you have never wanted to install a tank with a sump don’t worry as Red Sea has done all the planning for you and there is no gluing needed to assemble and seal all the plumbing.
The sump includes a filter sock holder and sock to keep large pieces of debris and detritus from clogging pumps and other pieces of equipment. The water can then flow from the filter sock into the skimmer compartment where the water will keep a steady level to aid in the best performance in your choice of skimmer or any other filtration components that you choose to include can be placed there. The water will then flow through the final bubble trap and into the final chamber where the return pump (not included) can be placed to pump water back through the Reefer tanks return plumbing.
Integrated Top Off
When water starts to evaporate all Reefer systems include an integrated top off system and reservoir that can hold a few days worth of top off water to keep the water level, salinity and flow rates consistent throughout the tank.

Blaming the Wrong Person By Sealed Reef on 12/1/2019Sealed Reef would recommend this product to a friendSounds like Gabriel is blaming the wrong people.... it's about zero % BRS fault all on the carrier... BRS is fantastic.
Terrible experience with purchase By GABRIEL on 10/1/2018GABRIEL wouldn't recommend this product to a friendHad an issue with my shipping address so that caused an extra 2 day delay. On top of that delivery was scheduled for the following Wednesday, I asked for a heads up and they never called me so they said they would reschedule delivery the next day. Long story short it wasn’t delivered by Friday so I drove 45 minutes to get it because I had an order of livestock that was coming in Saturday and I had to have it set up. Terrible experience and I will not be ordering from BRS ever again. Wish I could give 0 stars.
Top Notch By Aaron on 2/26/2018Aaron would recommend this product to a friendThe quality of this tank is hands down at the high end. The tank sits on top of a layer of neoprene so it looks like it is floating. The soft close doors work perfectly. The overflow can actually be adjusted to be perfectly silent. My one quality issue is that the return line is 1/2 inch, where the specs say 3/4 inch. Also there is absolutely no shipping or tracking notification whatsoever. Even if you inquire you just get a guesstimate.
A high-end setup By brian on 9/18/2016brian would recommend this product to a friendI will admit that Red Sea does make very nice setups. The tank features low-iron glass and a shaded back panel, and black silicone edges that are perfect. The tank sits flush on the stand with no bulky stand sticking out around the edges. The top of the stand and the inside floor feature a nice rubber top. The plumbing is fine; I have no issues with plumbing, as that is something that a reefer always changes. The only drawback I see is the small RODI reservoir. It really is tiny. I will eventually convert that to a fuge though.
Devoted Reefer 250 By pelphrey on 9/6/2016pelphrey would recommend this product to a friendAfter doing a lot of research I selected the Reefer 250 as my next reef tank. One of the main reasons is the fact that I can buy the white cabinet, I didn't have to paint or modify the stand what so ever! The stand is very easy to put together and was well planned out by Red Sea! The tank itself is beautiful and I can't wait to get this tank setup and watch it mature in our home! Look my up on Youtube/pelphrey as I am doing a series of videos on the Reefer 250. This series will include assembling the stand, how to add locks to the cabinet to prevent kids from getting inside, installing the plumbing, aqua scaping the tank, setting up the lighting and more!
Great System! Better yet the service at Bulk Reef was superb! By Michelle on 2/10/2016Michelle would recommend this product to a friendI love the Red Sea Reefer 250 and buying from Bulk Reef was a breeze. Order came right to the house via carrier and I couldn't be happier with the customer service.
The Reefer 250 lives up to the hype for me. Although a smaller than my original tank this system has great features, is well put together and beautiful to look at. Only thing it's missing is a refugium but I've fixed that by purchasing an in-tank refugium here at Bulk. This should make for a complete system that will be truly satisfying. Highly recommend the Red Sea line...you wouldn't be disappointed!
Does this include the new and improved refugium ready sumps that Red Sea recently introduced?
It will come with the latest sump that has the option for the refugium.
Will the side glass on a Reefer250 accommodate a VorTech MP10wQD pump??? I cannot find the wall thickness for it in the specs. Thanks.
The thickness of the 250 will be 1/2" and the MP10- is designed to work up to 3/8". The Mp10 is just a little too weak to fully seal to the unit. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions.
I was planning on ordering one of these sometime later this month or in early February, but I noticed in the detail section it says that these aquariums will be shipped until January 12. Will I be able to order one after that date? Is the aquarium being discontinued? Thank you.
This aquarium will still be available after 1/12. We're just waiting on more to be made. Have a great day!
What size pvc do I need for plumbing?
Do you get 1300 dollars worth of reward points?
If you are a member of the preferred reefer you can get 5 x rewards points with this purchase, or 6495 in rewards points. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!
Hi, I notice that the Reefer 250 has a 16mm ID return hose. What is the best way to adapt that to a return pump, which typically has a 3/4" or possibly 1/2" discharge barb? Thanks!
You can find a pump with an adapter which will work for 5/8" Often you can stretch the tubing from 5/8 up to 3/4" with some force and a little heat however considering a different pump that can accommodate varied tubing such as the Eheim will be a great option!
