- Kalk, Calcium Reactor & Adjustment Magnesium Mix (Discontinued) - Bulk Reef Supply
Why does BRS recommend this?
The Kalk, Calcium Reactor Magnesium Mix is one of the easiest ways to supplement magnesium if your system uses kalkwasser or a calcium reactor. If your system uses a calcium reactor or kalkwasser, this is the magnesium mix you will want to use. The mixing of 7 1/4 cups Magnesium Chloride to 3/4 cups Magnesium Sulfate is already done for you keeping your measuring cups in the kitchen and virtually no mess.
Simply just cut the corner of the bag, and pour into a 1 gallon container. Then top the container off with RODI water and let dissolve for 24 hours prior to use.
Tip: Maintaining proper magnesium levels will help prevent calcium and alkalinity from precipitating which makes maintaining these levels easier as well.
One bag mixes with water to create a gallon of solution.
This mix of magnesium chloride and sulfate is designed to be used in conjunction with calcium reactors, kalkwasser dosing or any other calcium and alkalinity solution that doesn’t involve continuous additions of calcium chloride such as the popular 2 part system.
Maintaining proper magnesium levels will help prevent calcium and alkalinity from precipitating which makes maintaining these levels easier as well.
works as described By rogergolf on 1/22/2014rogergolf would recommend this product to a friendWell product works and price is right. I just wish BULK reef supply sold the product in BULK not just 1 gal mix
Great! By Matt on 7/4/2012Matt would recommend this product to a friendPrice and effectiveness usually get all the credit, but I'm going to give it to these 1 gallon portions on form factor!
No need for a funnel, no measuring - just fill your jug with water, snip a corner of the pouch and voila - the pouch is your funnel.
It's hard to put a price on that kind of efficient convenience! In addition, this one has a stronger tendency to clump than the other "2 part" ingredients in my experience, so buying single servings makes even more sense.
Important supplement ang very easy to use By james on 5/25/2012james would recommend this product to a friendIf you are two part dosing this is a must have. Very east to use, just mix with a gallon of RO water. The calculater does the rest. High quality, mixes cristal clear.
Great Quality and Value MG+ By Fridmani1 on 3/22/2011Fridmani1 would recommend this product to a friendMixes up crystal clear after it sits over night. No residue on the bottom. It seems to work stronger than the reef calculator indicates. I used about 1/2 of what the calculator suggested and I was even a little above my target of 1350. It has held that level for 2 months now. Much better value than those commercial supplements.
easy to use By Chris on 11/22/2010Chris would recommend this product to a friendthis is very easy to mix and to use.when the Magnesium has fully mixed it is clean and look like RO water. my fish and corals seem to be happier.

So do you use this instead of just kalk in my ato?
How long will this mix last once I make it? Do I keep it in the fridge?
Thankfully these products will stay in solution pretty much indefinitely. As long as it's in a sealed container, it'll be good for just about forever!
How do I add this to my calcium reactor? Do I put it in as a solid when replacing the media, or is there a different product that works better?
What is the difference between this and the "2 part" pre mixed Magnesium 1 gallon pouch
The difference between Magnesium for 2 part and Magnesium for Kalkwasser is the ratio of Magnesium Sulfate to Magnesium Chloride. In 2 part the ratio is 5 cups MgCl and 3 cups MgSu. In Kalkwasser the mix needs to be changed to adjust for natural seawater levels of sulfate and chloride. The ratio for kalkwasser is 7cups MgCl and 1 cup MgSu. Both ratings are per 1 gallon of solution.
