Product Questions

By placing a ball valve on the return line and adjusting flow into the aquarium, does this backpressure on the pump cause it harm? In other words, does braking the flow cause premature wear and tea on the pump?
Question by: Daniel Dehler on Jan 29, 2018, 5:10 AM
Almost all pumps are designed to have some type of backpressure in them. A ball valve with a little restriction will not hurt the pump. You will just want to make sure that you have a little flow through the pump to help keep it cool while the motor is running.

I have a 125 gal reef tank 6 ft long looking for either a internal or external return pump .I have around 15 ft of head pressure which pump do you recommend.THANKS
Question by: james Berganski on Dec 17, 2017, 12:29 PM
Thanks for reaching out to us!

For internal return pumps, we recommend Sicce Syncra pumps. The Syncra HF 12.0 has a max head of 17.05'. Iwaki makes great external pumps, the MD-70RLT is 1536 GPH and has a max head of 31.8'.

Have a great day.
