- Catalytic Activated Carbon for Chloramines Removal
Surface modified catalytic activated carbon is used to remove chloramines from water. BulkReefSupply.com recommends using catalytic carbon with a ChlorPlus carbon block for the most effective removal of chloramines.
Available in Four Sizes:
- 1/4 Gallon - 1 Standard Cartridge Refill
- 1/2 Gallon - 2 Standard Cartridge Refills
- 1 Gallon - 4 Standard Cartridge Refills
- 5 Gallon - 20 Standard Cartridge Refills
Approximately 10% of city municipal waters systems use chloramines to process water. Standard RO filters will not remove chloramines from the water. To find out what's in your water contact your city and ask for a water report. Granulated catalytic carbon works extremely well at significantly “lowering” the chloramine levels where carbon blocks work better at achieving “extremely low levels.” For this reason we suggest them in series, the refillable catalytic carbon stage first and then the Chlorplus 10 carbon block. It is important to change them both every 5,000 gallons (include waste water in this calculation).
Recommended filter arrangement for chloramines treatment
- Sediment filter - Stage One
- Refillable cartridge with Catalytic Activated Carbon - Stage Two
- Pentek ChlorPlus carbon block - Stage Three
Excellent By Charles on 2/28/2015Charles would recommend this product to a friendThis is a must to have in your RO/DI systems before your chlorplus carbon block. It makes it last much longer. More importantly this really works to get rid of the chloramines and you can purchase the BRS test strips to prove how how it works! I think it helps the overall water quality that comes out of the system as well. An inexpensive way to improve your RO/DI system.
Good product for Chloramine removal By Kevin on 8/19/2014Kevin would recommend this product to a friendI use this with KDF-85 and get an excellent removal of Chloramine.
The Chloramine was coming through my RO membrane into my purified drinking water and was having negative effect on me. Using Catalytic Activated Carbon with KDF-85 really ensure removal of Chloramine. Using 2 different medias to ensure redundancy in protection against Chloramine give me peace of mind. I don't full around with my health.
But if you can't afford redundancy of 2 medias, then Catalytic Activated Carbon would be the prefer choice.
solves my problem By maria on 4/1/2014maria would recommend this product to a friendI have a high content of Chloramines in my city water supply.
This helps filter it out of my RO/DI water.
Time to change out filters By David on 4/1/2014David would recommend this product to a friendMy county uses high levels of Chloramines instead of chlorine to purify our water.
This carbon helps filter it out of my RO/DI water. I like the fact that there is more carbon in the jar, than the cartridge uses. Thanks BRS.
Time to change it out By David on 4/1/2014David would recommend this product to a friendThe county i live in uses chloramines instead of chlorine to purify our drinking water. This carbon takes that out of the RO/DI water that we drink and use in my reef tank. I really like the fact that refill has more than enough carbon to fill the cartridge. I have the best tasting drinking water on my street. Thanks BRS.

Can this be used in carbon reactors used on reef tanks or just for rodi?
When filling the cartridge do you fill it up all the way with this carbon and how many of the standard cartridge will it fill
You want to fill it all of the way with the carbon. The small size is enough for a single carbon refill.
