  • No complaints. By Albert on 8/1/2017

I dont really have anything to compare this to. It does its job perfect as far as I can tell. Mixes easily. The only thing I dont like are the dosing spouts.. They kinda suck, and will spill easily, and are also difficult to be precise with but luckily I dont use them since I have a doser. The price on this is great compared to other premixed solutions especially when you take into account having to ship a large amount of water inside the solution thats totally not necessary with some easy home mixing. If I had to weigh out the powders before mixing I'd probably not like it as much. But the pre-portioned packs are awesome!
  • Easy- Will continue to buy mixes! By Benita on 8/1/2017

I didn't quite understand the Magnesium portion of the dosing- At the end of the gallons it tells you to mix the powder with 20 ounces of water and add to the tank. If this is the case, why does it give me mixing instructions and the 1 gallon jug? What is the propper way to dose magnesium?!
  • Easy to follow By Abraham on 8/25/2016

Instructions were easy to follow and additives work as expected.
  • Simple and works well By Travis on 7/9/2016

Very easy to mix. I'm getting great results with the BRS 2 Part. Corals are looking awesome. My sunset montipora has great color and is growing quickly.
  • Easy to use By Smeac72 on 4/25/2016

Great product, easy to use. More than what i expected. You get a lot of product for your money, well worth it. will buy again.
  • Good product By Allen on 4/17/2016

Using the BRS 2 part on both my tanks. The pump tops work well. I bought an extra for magnesium. The kit comes with two that most people will use for alkalinity and calcium. My only complaint is the pump nossle could point down a bit more. I regularly pump calcium or alkalinity on my fingers when I am pumping out a large dose.
  • Don't leave in the garage By Bryan on 3/11/2016

Very convenient. Just add water and mix to the jug then shake. No measuring. Just don't leave the magnesium pouch in the humidity. It looks like it's sealed but mine came out soupy.
  • Excellent Product By Ron on 2/12/2016

Very easy mixing instructions to follow, The mixing containers the funnel and measuring cups are excellent quality for the money.
  • ease of use By Ruben on 1/11/2016

cannot go wrong with this kit if you are starting out or seasoned reefer
  • easy By David on 9/9/2015

i don't like measuring, never seem to have the right size measuring device.
  • Good Purchase For Noob By Jeffrey on 8/23/2015

I'm new to dosing, and mixing everything was a little confusing so I bought the pre-mix package to start off. It's really VERY simple so next time I'm just buying in bulk. It all works well and keeps my levels consistent. The jugs work well with the pumps. Once again, BRS succeeds in making reefing as easy and affordable as possible. Customer for life!
  • A must have for reef tanks By Acameron2 on 7/16/2015

Bought this starter kit so I can attemp to keep my parameters more stable for sps corals in my biocube, right after getting the dosage dialed in I bought a few acropora frags and so far I have great polyp extension and encrustation after a month of usage. Btw this kit is dummy proof, I've never dosed before this and now I can't imagine not ever dosing again judging by my results so far.

Product Questions

If I'm doing a FOWLR setup, is this additive needed/required for that type of tank?
Question by: Paul on Jul 25, 2014 12:19:00 AM
Hi Paul,
It should not be particularly necessary. You may have an interest in maintaining calcium and alkalinity levels because coralline algae will consume them. Depending on the rate of growth your typical water changes may be sufficient though.

Is there an expiration date for this product??
Question by: Jared on Feb 6, 2016 4:55:00 PM
These will not come with an expiration date. As long as they are sealed they will last a very long time. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!

I don't understand why there is 1 Galloon of 2 part Magnesium mix and 3-20 oz of Magnesium.
Question by: David Smith on Mar 2, 2014 11:01:00 AM
Hi David,
They are just different sizes for different purposes. 20oz of magnesium solution is what is dosed when you finish a gallon of calcium and alkalinity. The 1g mix of magnesium is for adjusting your magnesium levels outside of the normal two part dosing schedule (like adjusting your salt mix to make sure it matches before doing a water change for example).

How long should I wait in between dosing of the Alk, Calc, and Mag solutions?
Question by: Joe on Apr 3, 2016 12:19:00 PM
Great question!
Ideally you will want to dose the Alkalinity when the pH in your tank is at the lowest typically in the morning before the lights come on. After that the calcium can be dosed typically later in the day. Magnesium does not have precipitation issues and can be dosed in bulk at almost any point. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!

Hey. Do I have to use a doseing pump with this? And how long will this last for a 75 gallon tank? New to reefing. Thanks!
Question by: Jesse on Mar 9, 2016 10:55:00 AM
Great question!
You can add the elements by hand if needed however a dosing pump will make the process automated and much easier! The 1/2 gallon kit will last well into 1/2 year if not longer depending on the amount of corals. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!
Answer by: Connor (Admin) on Mar 9, 2016 12:57:00 PM
Once mixed how long will the solutions be good?
Question by: James on Mar 10, 2016 1:01:00 PM
Great question!
These will last forever as long as sealed well and no evaporation occurs. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!
