Quick Overview

Why does BRS recommend this?

The Syncra Silent line of pumps come in many different sizes and will fit most tank needs.  Sicce uses high quality magnets in their pumps, which allows them to spin smoother with less noise than almost all other pumps in their price category.  If your tank needs a high flow return pump, or a smaller pump for a low flow reactor our first choice will always be Sicce.

Quiet, energy-efficient pump for a variety of uses in wet or dry application. Use in salt or freshwater.

  • Does what it says. For now... By Chris on 4/10/2017

Not much to say. It's a pretty simple pump. Easy to setup, pretty quiet. Interestingly enough Ive been using the 1.5 version of this pump for water changes for about a year now and the impeller isn't turning despite numerous cleaning attempts. Other reviews had similar reports so I've replaced that pump with a different brand.
  • 5 Minute Swap By AquariumSpecialistsMN on 1/12/2017

This pump is a direct swap for the RSMax250 (#1 main left side). Can't go wrong here. Quiet and reliable, long lasting pumps.
  • Excellent Pump By Arman on 7/11/2016

The Sicce Pumps are fantastic, they are very small and completely silent. If I did not see the water movement throughout the tank I wouldn't even know it was running!
  • Great product By Pham on 4/9/2016

Quiet and reliable. Very powerful pump.
  • Quite By Brandon on 1/25/2016

worth every penny. . I don't know why I went through two other lesser pumps before I bought this, I could barely believe my ears when I first turned it on.
  • No complaints. By MAL757 on 8/12/2015

I have three of these pumps (different sizes). Not one complaint. Sicce is my favorite brand of pump.
  • Solid and Quiet By Evan on 7/18/2015

The Sicce Syncra has proven to be a solid and reliable pump for me. It's also one of the quietest I've found in this size.
  • Great product By TimS on 7/13/2015

I got this because my pump was starting to act up. Very happy I did, this pump is quiet, powerful for it's size and very efficient. Couldn't be more happy with my purchase and now it will last. I'm using this on a 45 gallon tank.
  • Super quiet! By William on 2/26/2015

Bought at the recommendation of BRS. Was looking for a replacement pump for my CadLight's tank. The pump that came with it was a little loud. Wasn't sure of the quality either so I bought this for a backup.. testing it out and ofcourse the CadLights pump is now my backup (wasn't sure what I was thinking). Quiet, quality made pump!
  • quiet pump By walter on 1/2/2015

Bought as an upgrade pump for my nuvo 30l. Much quieter, more flow, and less wattage.

  • Nice Quiet built pump By Saltytank on 11/17/2014

Product Questions

Is the Syncra Silent 2 (568 gph) sufficient for a 66 gallon reef tank and sump or should I go with Syncra Silent 3?

Question by: Bob on Jan 25, 2016 8:32:00 AM
Great question!
The Sicce 2.0 would work however the flow rate would be under the 10x system volume per hour. In this case we would recommend the 3.0 to help with the loss of GPH by head height. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!

I just installed mine yesterday and hearing a decently audible hum from the pump. Is this normal? Does it need to break in? I read reviews stating this pump was super quiet. And could barely or not be heard at all.
Question by: jake Butterfield on Dec 2, 2016 8:37:00 AM
Great question! AC pumps are inherently a bit noisy. These pumps by Sicce are going to be the most quiet available in the AC pump market. It is still recommended to utilize the rubber feet as well as a small section of silicone tubing between the pump and the plumbing. Also be sure that the pump is not touching the edge of the sump wall. :-)

Could I use this for a return pump for my mixed saltwater to be pumped to my tank? It has to go about 40 ft and has an elevation of about 25 inches along the way. Thanks
Question by: Anthony on Dec 4, 2016 12:52:00 PM
Great question! This pump is far too under powered to run as a return pump with that distance. This pump would be sufficient for a 10-20gal tank with a sump directly underneath it. I would recommend a much larger internal pump or begin looking at external pumps.

Hey guys, I need some advice. I have a 55 gallon reef. Cs 90 overflow and the eshopps r-100 fuge. Do u think this pump will do? I have a VERY limited budget. Thanks for your time
Question by: Scott on Dec 4, 2016 8:30:00 PM
Great question! I would say that this pump would be far under powered for your size of tank. I would recommend the Sicce 3.0 or better yet 4.0 :-)
Answer by: Randy (Admin) on Dec 19, 2016 7:51:00 AM
Is the Sicce 2.0 sufficient to use as a return pump on a 40 breeder with a 40 gallon sump pumping 4' up?
Question by: Dan Becvar on May 15, 2016 6:01:00 PM
Great question!
The sicce 2.0 has enough flow however the head height of 4 feet will greatly limit the end flow. This has a maximum height of 6.5 feet where the flow will go to 0 GPH. this means at 3 feet up the flow will be decrease by half to 250 GPH. even higher of 4 feet will probably reduce down to 200 GPH. We recommend a slightly larger pump to match closer to the 10x your system volume.
Answer by: Connor (Admin) on May 19, 2016 2:57:00 PM
Would the Syncra 2.0 fit in the nuvo 40 as an upgrade return.
Question by: Jesse on Apr 20, 2016 10:21:00 AM
Great question!
It will work, Ideally for installation you will need to remove the suction cup feet and face plate to fit the pump in the chamber and re-assemble in the chamber. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!
