USING SODIUM BICARBONATE
Maintain alkalinity as part of the popular 2 Part solution or as a stand-alone alkalinity additive.
WHAT YOU NEED
- Standard 8 oz. measuring cup
- Mixing Spoon
- Empty 1 gallon jug
- Clean 1 gallon bucket or bowl
- RO/DI or distilled
- Fill gallon jug 4/5 full with RO/DI or distilled water and pour into empty bucket/bowl.
- While stirring water, add 1 level dry measuring cup and 4 tbsp of Sodium Bicarbonate.
- Once dissolved, use funnel to transfer solution to gallon jug. Fill remainder of jug with water.
- Label Sodium Bicarbonate - Alkalinity and let sit before use.
NOTE: Mixing the sodium bicarbonate directly in the jug is more difficult to dissolve and may result in clumps forming at the bottom. If clumps occur warm the jug in a sink of hot water and shake vigorously.
good stuff By butch on 11/14/2016butch would recommend this product to a friendi use it in a drip mixes good and does the job

Good for big increases By KerryF on 4/20/2016KerryF would recommend this product to a friendIf your Alk is low and you need to raise up rather than maintain it, use this rather than soda ash.
I used this in my saltwater mixing/storage tank that had precipitated down to 7.1 dkh. This raised the alk nicely to 9.0 with no change in PH.
Great Product By Brett on 3/6/2016Brett would recommend this product to a friendBRS bulk supplements are absolutely wonderful. I use this one to counteract the PH raising of the sodium carbonate supplement
Great Stuff! By Ron C on 4/14/2015Ron C would recommend this product to a friendWorks Great and dissolves completely. Another great BRS product! and it doesn't raise the PH
Great Product! By Bobby on 1/20/2013Bobby would recommend this product to a friendIt does exactly what it's suppose to do at a good price.
Cheap and clean! By Casey on 10/30/2012Casey would recommend this product to a friendI use the sodium bicarbonate opposed to sodium carbonate because it has a lower pH. I dose a lot of Ca(OH)2, so this product increases alkalinity, and stops the pH from increasing too much. Cheapest source of alkalinity out there!
Excellent Price/Product. By Gary on 8/17/2012Gary would recommend this product to a friendWorks well, and great price.
GREAT PRODUCT By Tristan on 5/20/2012Tristan would recommend this product to a friendThis is a great product use it in amm of my aquariums
Why Waste Money on a Label? By Ricky on 5/12/2012Ricky would recommend this product to a friendGreat product .... replaced my name-brand bicarbonate with this... easily 1/3-1/2 the price if not better .... you would be foolish not to make the switch. Why just spend money on a big brand when BRS products are all you need and then some for a fraction of the price.

Ask a question
I use the following formula: 1 gal of RO/DI water and 15 oz of SB, which is the same ratio of water to SB given on your site.
I see on you site that it "Dissolves crystal clear".
So what am I doing wrong?
It sounds as if you are adding a little too much of the sodium bicarbonate there should be 1 1/4" cup of bicarbonate dry mixed in with the rest filled up with RO/DI water. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!
What's difference Sodium carbonate ( Item # sku : 000225 ) and Soda Ash ( Item # sku : 000313 ) . When dose for my tank just one or both same timer.Thanks !
If you follow the mixing directions for the Sodium Bicarbonate that is on the label, you will actually under-dose your tank. If you had a 10 gallon tank and wanted to move the alkalinity by 1 dKH, you would need 7.1 mL of Soda Ash, with Sodium Bicarbonate you would need 12.42 mL. If you know how much of the Soda Ash solution you dose on a daily basis, you could play with our dosing calculator to find the exact conversion, but we would still suggest testing your alkalinity for a few days to make sure everything is staying right where you want it.
Thanks for your input!
